Puerto Rico - Mexico 88-65

Puerto Rico clinched Centrobasket 2022 title as they defeated Mexico 88-65. They dominated the majority of the game to seal the trophy. Puerto Rico, Mexico, Cuba and Dominican Republic classified for AmeriCup 2023.
Puerto Rico won the first quarter 26-20 and led 19 points at the halftime. Both teams nailed 15 points each in the third quarter, whilst Puerto Rico closed the game with a final 19-15 rally.
Arella Guirantes (181-PG-1997, college: Rutgers) stepped up with 28 points and 14 rebounds, whilst Jacqueline Benitez (178-G-1997, college: JMU) netted 16. Paola Beltran (164-PG-1994) replied with 20 points in a loss and Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-F-1993, college: Charleston) netted 11.

Cuba overcame Dominican Republic 73-59 in the game for the 3rd place at the Centrobasket 2022. Puerto Rico, Mexico, Cuba and Dominican Republic classified for AmeriCup 2023.
It was Dominican Republic to take a 23-14 lead, whilst Cuba replied with a 25-9 rally to take a 39-32 halftime advantage. Cuba finished with a strong 22-14 surge to seal the win.
Suanly Tanis (178-F-1994) top-scored for the winners with 25 points and Yamara Amargo (179-PF-1985) brought 15. Cheisy Hernandez (167-G-1994) answered with 14 points in defeat, whilst Genesis Evangelista (180-G-1993) brought 12.

Mexico vs Dominican Republic 97-95

Mexico survived a thriller to reach the Centrobasket Final. They overcame Dominican Republic 97-95 in Chihuahua City. The hosts started with a narrow 24-23 run in the first quarter, whilst Dominican Republic led one point at the halftime. The teams continued the battle in the second half as the board showed 87-87 at the end of the fourth quarter. In overtime Mexico needed a 10-8 rally o seal the win.
Gladys Avila (177-F-1994) top-scored for the winners with 27 points and Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-F-1993, college: Charleston) produced 17. Paola Beltran (164-PG-1994) delivered 16, whilst Claudia Ramos (183-G-1997, college: CSUN) and Myriam Lara (186-F/C-1994) had 14 each. Yohanna Morton (172-G-1987, college: RMU) replied with 23 points in a loss and Cesarina Capellan (178-SF-2003) poured in 20.

Puerto Rico stormed past Cuba into Centrobasket Final in Chihuahua City. They posted an easy 103-66 win in the Semifinals. The favorites scored 34 points in the first ten minutes to secure the comfortable lead. Moreover, they posted another 33 in the second quarter and enjoyed a 77-35 halftime advantage. Puerto Rico won the third and the last stanzas to score three-digit number in the game.
Jacqueline Benitez (178-G-1997, college: JMU) top-scored for the winners with 25 points and Arella Guirantes (181-PG-1997, college: Rutgers) had 20. Jennifer O'Neill (165-PG-1990, college: Kentucky, agency: LBM Management) delivered 13, while Isalys Quinones (190-C/F-1997, college: Dartmouth) netted 12. Nahomis Vargas (185-C-2003) answered with 19 points in the losing case.

Day 3 in Chihuahua City, Semifinals are set - Nov 26, 2022
El Salvador - Cuba 48-66
Cuba beat El Salvador to earn the second position in Group B. Nahomis Vargas (185-C-2003) came up with 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort. Cuba recorded a 38-29 halftime advantage. They held El Salvador to just 19 points in the second half and raced to the win. Suanly Tanis (178-F-1994) had 11 points for Cuba. Hillary Martinez (172-SF-1997) notched 20 points and 8 rebounds for El Salvador.

Costa Rica - Guatemala 62-83
Guatemala fired past Costa Rica to earn the first win in Chihuahua City. Sonia Vasquez (182-F-1983) scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to pace the charge. Guatemala eked out a 38-35 halftime lead. They went on a stunning 31-10 rally in the third term to clear off for good. Luisa Rivas (170-PG-1993) produced 15 points in the victory. Amanda Fernandez (177-SF-2002) and Ana Matamoros (190-C-1993) answered with 12 points each for Costa Rica.

Puerto Rico - Dominican Republic 87-68
Puerto Rico prevailed against Dominican Republic to earn the top position in Group A. Arella Guirantes (181-PG-1997, college: Rutgers) stepped up with 31 points and 9 assists for the winners. Puerto Rico recorded a 44-30 halftime lead. They dropped 33 points in the third term to clear off for good. Isalys Quinones (190-C/F-1997, college: Dartmouth) had 24 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Cheisy Hernandez (167-G-1994) answered with 15 points for Dominican Republic.

Cuba - Mexico 59-68
Mexico beat Cuba for the second consecutive win at home court. Gladys Avila (177-F-1994) stepped up with 18 points to pace the hosts. Claudia Ramos (183-G-1997, college: CSUN) added 17 points for the winners. Yamara Amargo (179-PF-1985) answered with 22 points for Cuba. Isabela Quevedo (188-PF-2003) and Melissa Despaigne (2002) had 11 points each in the loss.

Puerto Rico - Costa Rica 86-58
Puerto Rico knocked down Costa Rica to improve at 2-0 record in Group A. Arella Guirantes (181-PG-1997, college: Rutgers) stepped up with 20 points to pace the winners. Puerto Rico built a comfortable 43-22 halftime lead and cruised to the victory in the second half. Jennifer O'Neill (165-PG-1990, college: Kentucky, agency: LBM Management) and Isalys Quinones (190-C/F-1997, college: Dartmouth) tossed in 17 points each for Puerto Rico. Ana Matamoros (190-C-1993) answered with 15 points and 10 rebounds for Costa Rica.

Dominican Republic - Guatemala 92-57
Dominican Republic cruised past Guatemala for the second straight win in Chihuahua City. Angela Jimenez (183-F-2003) and Genesis Evangelista (180-G-1993) scored 15 points each to lead the charge. Dominican Republic recorded a 49-30 halftime advantage and cruised to the victory in the second half. Nathaly Pinelo (167-PG-1999) paced Guatemala with 15 points.

Guatemala - Puerto Rico 57-100
Puerto Rico eased past Guatemala in the opener. Arella Guirantes (181-PG-1997, college: Rutgers) came up with 21 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds in the win. Puerto Rico established a comfortable 46-37 halftime advantage. They went on a 34-9 run in the third term to clear off for good. Brianna Jones (170-G) and Jacqueline Benitez (178-G-1997, college: JMU) tossed in 13 points each for the winning side. Gabriela Vallecillo (168-PG-2000) answered with 19 points for Guatemala.

Mexico - El Salvador 61-48
Mexico beat El Salvador for the first win in Chihuahua City. Gladys Avila came up with 11 points to lead the hosts. Mexico secure a 27-20 halftime advantage. El Salvador pulled within 4 points at the final intermission. But the home side answered with a 22-13 run in the fourth frame to seal the win. Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-F-1993, college: Charleston) and Paola Beltran (164-PG-1994) had 10 points apiece for the hosts. Hillary Martinez (172-SF-1997) responded with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for El Salvador.

Costa Rica - Dominican Republic 39-75
Dominican Republic crushed Costa Rica to take the first win in Mexico. Dominican Republic eked out a 39-31 halftime lead. But they held their opponents to just 8 points in the second half to cruise to the victory. Yohanna Morton (172-G-1987, college: RMU) provided 15 points, while Yamile Rodriguez (188-C-1994, college: ETSU) added 13 points for the winners. Amanda Fernandez (177-SF-2002) answered with 9 points for Costa Rica.
