Dominican Republic wins 2012 Centrobasket in Jose Miguel Agrelot
coliseum in Hato Rey. The team overcame the hosts of the tournament in
the Final game 80:72. Puerto Rico, meanwhile, won the silver medal and
failed in his attempt to repeat the gold won in Santo Domingo 2010. The
hosts started with 21:14 lead but could not keep the winning pace.
Dominican Republic bounced back with 26-14 in the second period and took
50:45 halftime advantage. Puerto Rico needed 19-18 in the third stanza

2012. He poured in 21 points as Jamaica overcame Panama 78:54. This is a
historic medal for Jamaica, since it's getting the first medal in this
tournament. Jamaca went on an early run and reached 25:17 after the
first period. They added 14-13 in the second frame to take 39:30 at the
halftime. With an 8-0 rally Jamaica put the score 58-39, while
Josimar Ayarza (205-F-87, college:
S.Mississippi) closed the frame at 58:41. It was clear at that time
about the winner. Jamaica also won the last stanza 20-12 to take the
bronze medals at the tournament.

Dominican Republic reaches the Final game of the 2012 Centrobasket. The
favorite overcame Panama 79:62 and will face the hosts in the Final.
Although Dominican Republic was the favorite of the game, Panama
surprised them with 20:13 in the opening period. Even after a 15-9 burst
in the second quarter, Dominican Republic trailed 1 point at the
halftime. The second half however belonged to Dominican Republic that
won the third and the last stanzas. They needed 25-17 in the third
period and added 26-16 in the last. Garcia Francisco top-scored for the
winners with 23 points and
Alfred Horford (208-F/C-86, college:
Florida) collected 17 points and 13 rebounds. Martinez Michael
followed them with 11 points and 11 boards.

Puerto Rico advanced to the Final at 2012 Centrobasket. The hosts
outscored Jamaica 103:89 at the Jose Miguel Agrelot coliseum in Hato
Rey, Puerto Rico. Jamaica started the game with 22-21 but could not keep
the lead at the end of the half. The hosts erupted with a 30-24 burst
and grabbed 5-point halftime advantage. Moreover Puerto Rico added 30-19
in the third quarter and did not mind the narrow loss in the last
stanza.

Bahamas edged Nicaragua 116:62. Bahamas opened the game with 36:16 and
was better in the second frame with 24:18. Moreover in the second half
the favorites continued to dominate the court and won the third and the
last stanzas.

Jarvis Christian) exploded with 43 points to lead the winners and
Coleby Kadeem posted 14. Taylor Gonzalez, Rudy ended up with 15 points

Panama edged Cuba 94:66 and finished second in Group A. Cuba started
with 22-20 after the first 10 minutes and led 1 point at the halftime.
The second half however was dominated only by one team-Panama. They
needed 26-15 in the third period and finished the game with 28-10 in the
last stanza.

Costa Rica - Mexico

Mexico prevail over Costa Rica 89:62. Mexico started with 21-11 and
added 23-16 in the second frame. The winners also won the third and the
fourth quarters in the game to seal the last victory at the tournament.

Fresno St.) stepped up with 15 points and
Paul Stoll (178-PG-85) added 13. Quesada Carlos relied with 14
points in the losing effort.
U.S. Virgin Islands - Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic pip Virgin Islands 78:73 to remain undefeated. They
opened the game with 22-15 and added 23-19 in the second frame. Virgin
Islands looked better in the second half and won both periods. It was
not enough however to beat the winners of the group. Martinez Yack
top-scored for the winners with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while
Coronado Juan scored 18.

the first 10 minutes and added 16-9 in the second frame. Moreover they
won the third quarter 26-12 and finished the game with 26-20. Sanchez
Ricardo stepped up with 13 points for the winners, while
Peter John Ramos (222-C-85), Rosario Michael and Galindo Alexander
had 12 each. Torres Orestes finished the game with 14 points in the
losing effort.
Nicaragua - Panama

Panama clinch Semifinal birth at the Centrobasket 2012. The team
overcame Nicaragua 93:60 in Day 4 of the Qualifying Round. Panama took

frame. They won also the third and the last stanza to seal the victory.

In Day 4 Jamaica needed 76:74 win to take the second place in the group.
They started with 19-18 and added massive 20-9 in the second frame. Both
teams scored 15 points each in the third period and it was really hot in
the court in the last stanza. Although Mexico won 32-22 the last period
it was not enough to win the game.

Puerto Rico overcame Nicaragua in Day 3 of the 2012 Centrobasket. The
home side exploded with a 107:67 victory. Puerto Rico was the favorite
of the game and proved their ambitions from the very beginning. They
started with 23:18 and never looked behind after. Moreover they erupted
with 34-13 in the second period to take 57:31 halftime advantage. Puerto
Rico easily added 31-13 in the third period and had achieved the biggest
lead by Santiago's dunk at 97:48. The hosts did not have any
difficulties to score three digits and ended up with 107 points.

Panama defeated Bahamas in Hato Rey in Day 3 of 2012 Centrobasket.
Panama celebrated a 78:70 victory for the first success at the
tournament. After Bahamas defeated Cuba in the opening day lost last
night against Puerto Rico and the reverse of today becomes the second in
a row. Panama opened the game with 23:14 and led 8-point at the
halftime. Bahamas won the second period 17-16 as the board showed 39:31.
The latter also produced a 20-18 burst in the third quarter and reduced
to 6 points before the final period. Panama however took off 73:58 after
a 10-0 rally that ended with a free throw by Joel Thesis with 3 minutes
remaining. Panama allowed the opponents to cut it to 8, but managed to
win the game. Ayarza top-scored for the winners with 23 points and 11
rebounds, while Munoz Joel had 13. Isaac St. Rose delievered 12, whilst
Daniel King (203-F-87) had 11. Smith Kentwan ended up with 18 points
in defeat for 1-3 record.

and stepped closer to qualify for the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship.
Jamaica grabbed 21-19 lead at the end of the first period, but could not
keep the lead for good. Dominican Republic managed to tie the score at
the halftime and dominated the second half. They won the third period
21-11 and finished the game with 22-16 in the last stanza. Horford
Alfred top-scored for the winners with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while

lead from the very beginning and never looked behind after. They added
20-14 in the second frame for 43:26 at the halftime. Moreover Virgin
Islands won the third and the last quarters. They increased their lead
to 28 points celebrating the initial victory.

Puerto Rico close Day 2 successfully as they edged Bahamas 88:71. The
hosts of Centrobasket 2012 improved to 2-0 record in Group thanks to
88:71 win. Puerto Rico did not waste time and took 20:11 after the first
10 minutes. In the second period, both teams traded baskets through the
early goings of the quarter, but the home side took the ascendency
thanks to another 18-16 burst. In the second half, both sides traded
baskets for the majority of the third quarter with Puerto Rico
maintaining their advantage at 63:42. They did not mind 25-29 in the
last stanza to win the second game.

Mississippi) led the way with 21 points and Rivera Filiberto nailed
13. Sanchez Ricardo finished the night with 11 points, whilst Ubiles

produced a 19-14 surge in the third frame and did not even think of
slowing down. They finished the game with 19-13 in the last period to
seal the victory.

court. For every bit as tired, lethargic and lacklustre Mexico looked,
Dominican Republic were quite brilliant and it was their defence as well
as offence which stood out. Dominican Republic won the third period
21-14 and added 22-13 in the last quarter.

it. Jamaica faithful were probably hoping it was just a nightmare
quarter but it ended up being a nightmare half as things went from bad
to worse. In the third period Jamaica erupted with 28-13 surge and took
the lead for good. They added 21-17 in the last stanza to taste the
second straight victory.

game with seven consecutive points. . Alex Galindo responded with a
three-points shot and jump shot and David Huertas with another three-
point shot to tie the game. Both teams later nailed 17 points each
before the end of the first quarter. Later on the court was dominated
only by one team, Puerto Rico. They produced a 25-7 surge to take
17-point advantage at the halftime. Moreover the hosts won the third
period 25-21 and added 25-15 in the last stanza.

side celebrated 91:61 victory at the 2012 Centrobasket in Puerto Rico.
Jamaica scored the first 15 points in the game and enjoyed 20:5 lead
after the first 10 minutes. Moreover they added 19-16 in the second
frame and had 18-point advantage at the halftime. In the third period
Jamaica produced a 22-16 surge and increased to 61:37 after three
quarters. Rose gave Jamaica the biggest led in the game, 84:53 as it was
clear about the winner. Jamaica added 30-24 in the last stanza and
sealed the victory in the opener.
