Ortiz number one in Uruguay for round 8

American-Puerto Rican Forward Christopher Ortiz (203-F-93, agency: Network Sports International) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Defensor, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Goes (#12, 0-7), the league's bottom-ranked team 67-55. Defensor is placed at 8th position in Uruguayan LUB. Defensor is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 3-4 record. In the team's last game Ortiz had a remarkable 58.3% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Defensor, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Christopher Ortiz averages this season 15.7ppg and 7.3rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 39-year old Italian Damian Tintorelli (205-C-81) of Trouville. Tintorelli had a very good evening with a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Trouville was edged by the higher-ranked Urunday (#3, 5-2) 87-84. Trouville is still in a red zone at 11th spot in the standings. 6 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Trouville managed to get this year. Tintorelli is a newcomer at Trouville, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Devon Collier (203-PF-91) of Nacional (#4). Collier showcased his all-around game by recording 16 points, fifteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Nacional, leading his team to a 86-83 win against the lower-ranked Hebraica (#10, 2-5). Nacional needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 5 victories and 2 lost games. Collier has a great season in Uruguay. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.9rpg (6th best). He also has 1.1bpg and FGP: 55.7%.
