Brazil - Venezuela 94-75 Brazil defended their South American Championship title. They rallied past hosting Venezuela in the Final in Barquisimeto. Six players scored in double digits for Brazil. Iziane Castro (182-G/F-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) paced the champions with 20 points. Brazil silenced the hosts in the first half. The defending champions got to a massive 55:25 start to the game. Venezuela managed to stop the bleeding after the big break. Venezuela cut the deficit but could not avoid the defeat. Kelly Santos (192-C-79, agency: Interperformances) provided 19 points, while Nadia Colhado (193-C-89) added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Roselis Silva (166-PG-91, college: Arkansas Tech, agency: Gamble Sports Management) responded with 18 points for Venezuela. Argentina - Colombia 55-59 Colombia outgunned Argentina to take the Bronze medals at the championship. Maria Palacios (163-G-85) sank 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Colombia jumped to a 30:23 halftime lead. Argentina narrowed the gap in the third term. They pulled within 2 points at the final intermission. However Colombia went on a 15:13 run in the fourth quarter and iced the victory. Mabel Martinez (180-F-86) provided 10 points in the win. Andrea Boquete (183-F/C-90) replied with 14 points for Argentina. Sandra Pavon (175-PG-85) had 13 points in the defeat.

Paraguay - Ecuador 72-52 Paraguay occupied the fifth position at the tournament. They held off Ecuador in the final game. Brazil - Paraguay 128-35 Brazil stayed undefeated in Barquisimeto. They stormed past Paraguay to finish on top of Group A. Seven players scored in double digits for the winners. Patty Ribeiro (176-G/F-90) stepped up with 19 points for Brazil. They unleashed 71 points in the first half to gain a comfortable 48-point lead. Brazil never looked back afterwards marching to a well-deserved victory. But Venezuela responded with a 26:14 run in the third term to surge ahead. Argentina limited Venezuela to just 9 points in the fourth stanza to force overtime.
