Canada - Chile

Canada grabbed the Bronze in Colorado Springs. Canada showed their power
against Chile 81-42 ending the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship as
No.3. Both teams will participate at the 2011 FIBA U19 World
Championship.
Laura Anne Dally (180-G-92) shined for Canada in this game with 13
points and 5 rebounds.
Katherine Plouffe (191-F-93) (6 rebs) and
Melissa Mullins (183-F-92) (5 rebs) helped with 12 points each.

Mexico - Argentina

Argentina made it against Mexico finishing the FIBA Americas U18
Championship as No.5. This game was very important for both teams as the
winner will participate at the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship.
Argentina grabbed 51-64 victory and till travel to Chile next year.
Rocio Evangelina Diaz (93) top-scored for the winners with 19
points.
Diana Cabrera (92) secured a nice help with double-double of 10
points and 10 boards.
Melisa Gretter (92) collected 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.
In Mexico, who ended as No.6,

breather sending a signal that they will fight until the end. Still,
their willingness was not enough and Argentina finished Q3 with 14-15.
Argentina had no troubles to keep its advance in the last period and to
celebrate crucial 51-64 victory.

Puerto Rico - Costa Rica

Puerto Rico outplayed Costa Rica and avoided the last place in Colorado
Springs. Both teams were winless before this meeting.
Kiara Quinones-Noa (93) stepped up for Puerto Rico with 15 points, 5
rebounds and 5 assists. She was the MVP of this game with valuation 24.
Mercedes Colon (94) helped her country with 12 points.

USA and Brazil to meet in the Finals - Jun. 27, 2010
Semifinals
USA - Chile
98-28
USA had an easy job in the Semifinals. The powerful USA team destroyed
Chile 98-28 advancing to Championship Finals, where they will meet
Brazil.
Chinenye Ogwumike (92) stepped up for the winners with 17 points and
7 rebounds for just 14 minutes on the court.
Theresa Plaisance (92) secured a nice help adding 11 points and 6
rebs.
Kayla McBride (93) was another player with double-digits in scoring
for the USA - 10 pts (5 rebs). On the other side, Chile did not have
anyone with more than ten. Their best player was
Paula Carrasco (94) with just 6 points. USA was a way better team
and they dominated in all basketball elements. Chile was not able to
score more than 9 points in any of four periods. USA made 26-7 lead in
the opening ten minutes and until the half time jumped to impressive
46-10. For the second half
Chinenye Ogwumike and her teammates drained 54 points, missing two
more to reach 100 in this meeting. Chile had only 18 pts for 20 minutes
and faced with huge 98-28 loss. They will not meet Canada in the battle
for third place. The Big Final will also be played today (Sunday).
Canada - Brazil

Brazil grabbed 49-50 thriller win against Canada advancing to
Championship Finals. It was a very exciting game and Brazil made it in
the finish. It means that Brazil will take on powerful USA in the battle
for Gold. On the other side, Canada will meet Chile in the game for
third place.
Carina Dos Santos (174-G/F-92) and
Aruzha Lima (165-G-92) were the leading players in victory with 15
points each. Brazil did not have anyone else with double-digits in
scoring. In Canada,
Michelle Plouffe (191-F-92) and
Katherine Plouffe (191-F-93) replied with 12 points apiece. They
grabbed 8 and 7 rebounds respectively. Everything started great for
Canada, who created 13-8 lead in the first ten minutes. Brazil struggled
at both sides of the court and faced with another bad period (13-8).
That resulted with 28-19 HT lead for Canada, who looked comfortable and
in control.
Michelle Plouffe and her teammates continued in the same rhythm
extending the lead to 12 points before the last period. When it seemed
that the game is already over, Brazilians finally started to play.
Carina Dos Santos and
Aruzha Lima were unstoppable offensively pacing their team to
magnificent 9-22 in Q4, what was enough for 49-50 thriller win and a
spot in the Finals.

Mexico - Puerto Rico

Mexico was too strong for Puerto Rico 73-55 in Day Four of the FIBA
Americas U18 Championship. It means that Mexico will meet Argentina in
the game for fifth place on this event. On the other side, Puerto Rico
stays winless and will take on Costa Rica to avoid the last place in
Colorado Springs.
Ana Noriega (93) shined for the Mexicans with double-double of 20
points and 14 rebounds. She was not the MVP of this game as that title
belongs to
Adriana Navarro (93), who reached valuation 24. Navarro had 12
points and 13 boards with pretty good shot percentage.

Argentina failed to reach the Semifinals, but they quickly managed to
recover from this elimination. Argentina outplayed Costa Rica 86-34 and
will meet Mexico in the battle for fifth place in Colorado Springs. On
the other side, Costa Rica will play against Puerto Rico in the game for
seventh place.
Natasha Spiatta (92) was the leading scorer in this victory with 17

Canada finished Preliminary Round in Colorado Springs with perfect 3-0.
In Day Three of the FIBA Americas U18 Championship, Canada destroyed
Costa Rica 74-18 advancing to Semifinals as No.1 of Group A. At the same
time, Canada also booked a spot for 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship in
Chile.
Michelle Plouffe (191-F-92) stepped up for the winners with 13
points and 9 rebounds. She was the MVP of this game with valuation 20.

Americas U18 Championship. It was the crucial game for both teams as
they had 1-1 score in Group A before this meeting. Thanks to this
victory, Chileans are No.2 is this pool now and they advanced to
Semifinals. At the same time, Chile booked a regular ticket for 2011
FIBA U19 World Championship. They would participate at this event anyway
as they will be the hosts.

Cynthia Bascunan (93) stepped up for the winners with 17 points
each. They had 7 and 6 rebounds respectively.

they were more focused, having a more sports luck as well, to celebrate
65-63 victory. In the Semifinals, Chile will meet powerful USA. Mexico
will play against Puerto Rico in classification games for 5-8 places.

Brazil - Argentina

Brazil outsmarted Argentina 64-61 in the last game of the Preliminary
Round in Colorado Springs. Both teams had 1-1 score in Group B before
this meeting, but thanks to this victory Brazil is the second ranked
team. It means that Brazil advanced to Semifinals on this event and also
booked a ticket for 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship in Chile. Argentina
will continue in classification games.
Tassia Pereira (93) was a key player for Brazil as she scored 18
points.

USA - Puerto Rico

USA registered another easy win in Colorado Springs. This time, the
powerful USA team blasted Puerto Rico to finish Preliminary Round as
No.1 in Group B (3-0 record). USA already booked a spot for the
Semifinals on Thursday and they also secured participation for the 2011
FIBA U19 World Championship in Chile. The winning squad had eight
players with double-digits in scoring against Puerto Rico.

Rashanda Gray (93) had 12 pts and 8 rebounds, while
Allyson Malott (93) added 11 pts. On the other side,

Chile - Canada

Canada blasted Chile in Day Two of the FIBA Americas U18 Championship
securing the first place in Group A. Despite there is one more round to
go in Preliminary Stage, it is already clear that Canada will advance to
Semifinals as No.1. Also, the Canadian NT already booked a ticket for
2011 FIBA U19 World Championship in Chile.
Michelle Plouffe (191-F-92) was the leading player in this victory.
She spent 28 minutes on the court collecting 27 points and 11 rebounds.
Plouffe was the MVP with valuation 29.
Cassandra Brown (188-F-92) helped the Canadians with 14 points and 5
boards. In the loosing squad,
Cynthia Bascunan (93) delivered 9 points. Her Chile dropped to 1-1,
but still has a chance to reach the Semis. They will have to beat

First win for Mexico at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Colorado
Springs. After this victory Mexico joined Chile with 1-1 record in Group
A. Their game in Day Three will decide which of these two teams will
advance to Semifinals. And not only that, as the semifinalists will
automatically book a ticket for 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship.

points and 14 rebounds. She reached an amazing valuation 40 and of
course was the MVP of this meeting.

Argentina - Puerto Rico

Argentina grabbed valuable 68-60 victory against Puerto Rico in Day Two
of the FIBA Americas U18 Championship. This is the first win for
Argentina at this event and they will have to beat Brazil in order to
reach the Semifinals. As a reminder, all the semifinalists will
automatically book a ticket for 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship in
Chile.
Rocio Evangelina Diaz (93) top-scored for the winners with 19 points
and she had 6 rebounds beside that. However, the best player of Team
Argentina was

The USA team demonstrated its power once again. After huge win against
Argentina, USA blasted Brazil in Day Two of the FIBA Americas U18
Championship in Colorado Springs. With this victory, USA secured the
Semifinals as No.1 of Group B. This is not the only important thing.
Another one is that USA already booked a ticket for 2011 FIBA U19 World
Championship in Chile.

Canada blasted Mexico in Day One of the FIBA Americas U18 Championship
in Colorado Springs. It means that Canada jumped to 1-0 in Group A
having the same score as Chile, who outplayed Costa Rica. Each of
Canada's players managed to score in this game.

important to mention that Canada totally outjumped their rivals ending
the game with 25 rebounds more (Canada 52 rebs, Mexico 27). On Day Two,
Canada will meet Chile. At the same day Mexico will take on Costa Rica.
Costa Rica - Chile

Chile had a joyful Day One in Colorado Springs. The Chilean U18 squad
met U18 Costa Rica celebrating valuable 53-75 victory. At this moment,
Chile shares the first place in Group A with Canada. Francisca Rojas
stepped up for the winners with double-double of 14 points and 14
rebounds.

The 2008 Finalists met each other in Day One of the 2010 FIBA Americas
U18 Championship in Colorado Springs. As it was two years ago, the USA
team once again blasted their rival. In 2008 it was 81-37 and now the
USA celebrated 91-32 victory. Both teams are together with Puerto Rico
and Brazil placed to Group B.
