FINALUSA - Canada 85-59USA conquered the fifth straight U16 FIBA Americas title. They outgunned Canada for the Gold in Irapuato. USA dominated in the first half. They established a comfortable 51-29 halftime lead. USA kept Canada at bay throughout the second half and raced to the trophy. Micah Ojo (183-F-2009) tallied 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, while Ivana Wilson-Manyacka (185-F-2009, college: USA NT U16) netted 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the champions. Avery Arije (179-F-2009) replied with 13 points for Canada. 3-4 PlaceMexico - Colombia 51-43Mexico stepped onto the pedestal in Irapuato. They held off Colombia in the Bronze medal game. Mexico and Colombia were tied at 21 at halftime. But Mexico ignited an 18-7 rally in the third term to spur ahead. Colombia cut the deficit in the fourth period but could not avoid the loss. Aislin Tamez (179-F-2009) provided 13 points, while Yannia Valverde (175-F-2009) added 10 points for Mexico. Maria Millan (178-PG-2009) replied with 20 points and 9 rebounds for Colombia. 5-6 PlaceVenezuela - Argentina 46-61Argentina outscored Venezuela to clinch the fifth position at the championship. Argentina claimed a 34-20 halftime advantage. They followed with a 21-8 push in the third term to clear off for good. Kiara Miro (175-F-2009) stepped up with 18 points for Argentina. Greidysmar Camacaro (167-SG-2009) chipped in 13 points for Venezuela. 7-8 PlacePanama - Puerto Rico 72-95Puerto Rico wrapped up their Irapuato campaign on a high note. They breezed past Panama to earn the 7th position. Puerto Rico eked out a 45-41 halftime lead. They went on a strong 50-31 second half rally to ice the victory. Lucianna Parrotta notched 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Amahya Hernandez had 16 points in the win. Vivian Grenald replied with 30 points and 13 rebounds for Panama. She plays For the The Bullis School And graduated from USA Women National Team Under 16 last year.
Wilson-Manyacka received multiple other awards, was selected as the Best Center and was chosen to the First Team.
It is Wilson-Manyacka's second year in the American Under 16 National Team.
