Mexico capture the title in Arecibo

Mexico - Puerto Rico 83-77
Mexico held off Puerto Rico to capture the title in Aguada. Sofia Payan (167-SF-00) was unstoppable with 36 points for the champions. Puerto Rico grabbed a 21:15 lead ten minutes into the game. But Mexico used a 22:13 rally in the second period to ensure a 37:34 halftime lead. They went on a 21:12 run in the third term to boost the lead at 12-point mark. Puerto Rico erupted for 31 points in the fourth quarter but could not rescue the game. Angela Carrasco (178-C-01) notched 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Nadechka Reyes (162-G-00) and Sheslanie Laureano (175-G/F-01) netted 17 points apiece for Puerto Rico.
3-4 Place
Costa Rica - El Salvador 41-56
El Salvador stepped onto the pedestal in Arecibo. They edged Costa Rica to clinch the Bronze medals. Kimberly Villalobos (178-C-00) scored 26 points and grabbed 21 rebounds to lead the winners. El Salvador recorded a 28:22 halftime lead. They held Costa Rica to just 19 points in the second half and raced to the victory. Lindsey Castillo (165-G-02) had 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Valeria Gonzalez (162-SG-02) responded with 12 points for Costa Rica.

5-6 Place
Guatemala - Bahamas 75-50
Guatemala cruised past Bahamas to earn the fifth position at the championship. Luisa Enriquez (165-F-01) delivered 19 points in the win. Guatemala opened the game on a 14:2 run. They followed with a 25:11 run in the third term to clear for good. Salma Barrios (160-F-00) had 14 points in the victory. Valicia Demeritte (F-00) and Brionte Riley (C-00) had 9 points each for Bahamas.

7-8 Place
Surinam - British Virgin Islands 86-41
Surinam smashed British Virgin Islands to finish their Centrobasket campaign on a winning note. Stephanie Hubard (03) and Mirelva Marica (02) produced 21 points each for the winners. Surinam piled up a 40:28 halftime lead. They held British Virgin Islands to just 13 points in the second half and marched to a comfortable win. Cyaram Kensmil (01) had 17 points and 13 assists for the winners. Shauliqua Fahie (173-F-00) accounted for 19 points and 11 rebounds for British Virgin Islands.
