#1. Turkish player Kerem Kanter, a 6'10'' forward/center who is 31 years old and graduated from Xavier in 2018, showcased his talent in the recent game where he led Seoul Samsung Thunders to a victory over the closely-ranked Sonicboom. In this exciting match, he was named the MVP for his outstanding performance. Kanter's impressive double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds, along with 2 blocks in 37 minutes, played a crucial role in securing the win for his team. The game between Seoul Samsung Thunders and Sonicboom was highly anticipated as both teams are among the top 4 ranked teams in the league. With this victory, Seoul Samsung Thunders (2-0) currently holds the top spot in the league standings. However, it's important to note that the season is still in its early stages, and there is potential for unexpected outcomes in the upcoming games. Kanter continued to shine in another game against Suwon KT, scoring 30 points and grabbing 13 rebounds, which contributed significantly to another victory for his team. His exceptional performance earned him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, further solidifying his reputation as a champion on the court. Throughout the season so far, Kanter has maintained high statistics, averaging 20.0 points per game, 11.0 rebounds per game, and 1.5 steals per game, showcasing his stellar individual performance.
#2. PJ Pipes, a 6'2'' guard and 27-year-old Broncos alumnus from 2022, showcased his skills in Bosnia's recent victory over league leader Derby (0-2) with a score of 100-91 in the AdmiralBet ABA League on Saturday night. Despite previously playing in Green Bay between 2017 and 2021, Pipes is now making a name for himself in Bosnia's pro league. In the thrilling game between KK Bosna BH Telecom Sarajevo (2-0) and Derby, which featured two of the top 4 ranked teams, Pipes stood out by scoring an impressive 19 points in just 25 minutes of play. With an average of 15.0 points per game, 2.5 assists per game, and 1.5 steals per game in the two matches he has played this season, Pipes has been delivering solid performances and proving to be a valuable asset to his team.
#3. Experienced champion Alfonzo McKinnie, a 6'8'' forward who is 34 years old and graduated from Green Bay in 2015, played a crucial role in Dorados de Chihuahua's recent victory in the Mexican Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional. In a match against the 12th-ranked Freseras, McKinnie's team secured a dominant 105-85 win. McKinnie showcased his skills by scoring 17 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and contributing 2 assists in just 23 minutes of play. His consistent contributions on the court highlight his value as a champion player for Dorados de Chihuahua.
#4. Cody Schwartz, a 29-year-old 6'8'' forward and Phoenix alumnus from 2020, is currently playing professionally in Slovakia. Unfortunately, Schwartz, a standout player for Iskra Svit, was unable to lead his team to victory against the Blue Wings in the Slovakian Tipos Slovenska Basketbalova Liga. Despite his efforts, Iskra Svit (0-4) suffered a tough 91-65 loss on the road to the fourth-ranked Blue Wings, marking their fourth consecutive defeat in the Regular Season. Schwartz, in his first season with the team, showed potential in the game against the Blue Wings by contributing 4 points and 1 rebound in 26 minutes of play. His individual performance was notable, yet it wasn't enough to secure a win for his team. Throughout the season, Schwartz has been averaging 8.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game in the four games played so far. Despite the challenging start, Schwartz remains determined to help Iskra Svit improve and compete at a higher level in the league.
#5. Kameron Hankerson, a 6'5'' guard who graduated from Green Bay in 2020 and currently plays professionally in Mexico, recently faced off against the formidable Astros in the Mexican Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional. In the game, Hankerson showcased his skills by contributing 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist in 17 minutes of play. However, the Astros, a higher-ranked team sitting at #4, proved to be a tough challenge for the Gambusinos de Fresnillo, who suffered their fourth consecutive loss. With only two games remaining in the Regular Season, every match becomes crucial for Hankerson and his team. Despite the defeat, Hankerson has been performing consistently throughout the season, averaging 9.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game over 12 appearances.
