#1. Experienced champion Angel Gerardo Suero, a 6'5'' small forward who is 37 years old and graduated from Albany in 2012 with an All-AEC First Team award, currently plays professionally in the Dominican Republic. In the recent game, Suero, the top scorer with 27 points, also contributed 5 rebounds and 5 assists during his 33 minutes on the court. Despite his stellar performance, Suero's team, the Leones, who are currently in first place with a 5-11 record, suffered a 111-120 defeat on the road against the fourth-ranked Heroes in the Places 7-9 group. This loss marked the Leones' third consecutive defeat as the Regular Season has already concluded. Suero has been having an exceptional year individually, leading the league with an average of 20.4 points per game along with 5.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.4 steals in the 16 games he has played thus far. It is noteworthy that Suero holds dual American and Dominican Republic citizenship, allowing him to compete in the Dominican Republic league as a domestic player.
