Especially interesting is good performance of Cameron Krutwig (16 points), Donte Ingram (26 points), and Milton Doyle (12 points).
#1. Cameron Krutwig, a 6'9'' center who is 27 years old and a Loyola graduate, made a name for himself in 2021 when he received the All-MVC All-Tournament MVP award. Currently playing professionally in Spain for Hiopos Forca Lleida, Krutwig recently faced a tough challenge in the team's last game. Despite his stellar performance, Lleida suffered a crushing 114-87 defeat on the road against the higher-ranked Breogan Lugo, who holds the 10th position in the league standings. In the game, Krutwig emerged as the top scorer for his team, contributing 16 points along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists in just 18 minutes of play. With only three games remaining in the Regular Season, each match becomes crucial for Lleida's playoff chances. Krutwig showcased his skills in the game against Breogan Lugo, displaying an impressive performance by scoring 16 points, securing 4 rebounds, and distributing 4 assists. Despite his noteworthy efforts, his team was unable to secure a victory. Throughout the season, Krutwig has maintained an average of 4.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game across the 29 games he has participated in so far.
#2. Donte Ingram, a 29-year-old former Ramblers alumni from the class of 2018, has been showcasing his skills as a professional basketball player in New Zealand. Recently, he played a pivotal role in leading the Wellington Saints to a resounding victory over the Bulls, with a final score of 126-88 in the New Zealand National Basketball League. Ingram's exceptional performance earned him the MVP title for the game, as he scored an impressive 26 points, made all of his eight free throws, and contributed 5 assists in just 25 minutes of play. This victory marked the fourth consecutive win for the Wellington Saints, who currently hold the fourth position in the league standings with a record of 5-2. Ingram's stellar stats this season, averaging 15.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in the seven matches he has played so far, further solidify his status as a key player for his team. Ingram's standout display against the Bulls not only highlighted his individual talent but also played a significant role in propelling his team to victory and securing their position as the champion of the game. His contributions on the court have been instrumental in the success of the Wellington Saints as they continue their journey in the league.
#3. Experienced champion Milton Doyle, a 6'4'' shooting guard at 32 years old who graduated from Loyola, IL in 2017 and received the All-MVC First Team award that year, currently plays professionally in Italy. In a recent game, he led Napoli to a convincing victory over Udine, with Napoli emerging as the finalist with a decisive 98-71 win in the Italian Serie A match on Sunday night. Doyle showcased his skills as a champion with a notable performance, scoring 12 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, and dishing out 4 assists in just 27 minutes of play. His contribution was instrumental in Napoli's triumph, further solidifying his reputation as a top-tier player in the league. Gevi Napoli Basket, currently positioned tenth in the league with an 11-17 record, has concluded its Regular Season. Despite the team's placement, Doyle's leadership and on-court prowess have undoubtedly been key factors in their performance throughout the season. Throughout the season, Doyle has maintained impressive statistics, averaging 12.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game across eight games. His consistent performance and impactful contributions on the court highlight his capabilities as a champion player in the Italian Serie A.
#4. South Sudanese champion Aher Uguak, a 6'7'' small forward who is 27 years old and an alumnus of Ramblers from 2022 where he helped them win the MVC Tournament that year, currently plays professionally in Germany. In a recent game, Uguak unfortunately could not assist his team, the NINERS Chemnitz, who are one of the league's weakest teams with a record of 16-18, as they suffered a loss against Braunschweig, who are ranked #17 in the league. Despite Uguak's commendable performance of scoring 10 points in 23 minutes, Chemnitz was defeated 90-104 on Braunschweig's home court. During the Regular Season, Uguak displayed skill and dedication, averaging 4.1 points per game and 2.5 rebounds per game across 17 games. Despite his team's challenges, Uguak continues to contribute positively on the court. Additionally, it is noteworthy that he holds a Canadian passport, adding to the international aspect of his professional basketball career.
#5. Marques Townes, a 6'3'' guard who graduated from Loyola, IL in 2019 and currently plays professionally in Spain, showcased his skills on the court in a recent game. Playing for Alimerka Oviedo Baloncesto, Townes led his team to a 93-79 victory over Gipuzkoa in the Spanish Primera FEB league, which is the second division in Spain. This win was the team's third consecutive victory, helping them maintain their fifth-place position in the league standings. During the game, Townes delivered an outstanding performance, earning himself the title of the champion of the game. He contributed significantly with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals in just 32 minutes of play. His impressive stats not only secured the win for his team but also highlighted his exceptional skills on the court. Throughout the season, Townes has continued to excel, ranking fourth in the league with an average of 16.3 points per game. In addition to his scoring ability, he has been a valuable asset to his team, averaging 5.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.4 steals per game in 29 appearances. It is worth noting that Townes is a naturalized Dominican, adding to his unique background and contributing to his success as a finalist in the league.
#6. Francis Nwaokorie, a towering 6'7'' forward and Ramblers alumni from the class of 2025, currently showcases his skills playing professionally in Spain. In a recent Spanish Primera FEB game, Nwaokorie had the privilege of teaming up with the previously mentioned Marques Townes, displaying a strong partnership on the court. Their collaboration proved crucial in Oviedo's impressive 93-79 victory over the closely-ranked Gipuzkoa team. Nwaokorie's standout performance as a key player cannot be understated, as he delivered an outstanding 16-point contribution in 33 minutes of play. Additionally, he showcased his versatility by grabbing 2 rebounds during the game. His impactful performance against Gipuzkoa not only highlighted his scoring ability but also demonstrated his value as a reliable asset to his team. Nwaokorie's efforts undoubtedly played a pivotal role in securing the win, establishing him as a definitive champion on the court. Throughout the current season, Nwaokorie has maintained a solid average of 7.5 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game across 33 games. His consistent performance and dedication to his team's success further emphasize his status as a finalist with the potential to achieve even greater heights in the future.
