Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC Here is the weekly review of the top performing Hoosiers alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.
#1. Sara Scalia (5'10''-SG-2001, played in 2022-24, plays pro in France) could not help Lyon (2-5) in their last game. Despite her very good performance Lyon lost 70-84 at home to the much higher-ranked (#3) Charleville-Mezieres. Scalia was the top scorer with 16 points in 31 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only her second season in pro basketball. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Scalia has relatively good stats this year 12.7ppg and 2.9rpg in seven games she played so far. She is a naturalized Italian.
#2. Aleksa Gulbe (6'3''-F-2000, played in 2018-22, plays in France) is a teammate of previously mentioned Sara Scalia and both played together in the last French LFB game. Gulbe was not able to help Lyon in their game against Charleville-Mezieres (4-3). She recorded 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Lyon was defeated 84-70 on their home court in Lyon by the higher-ranked Charleville-Mezieres (#3). Gulbe has relatively good stats this season 13.2ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.5apg.
#3. Mackenzie Holmes (6'3''-F-2001, played in 2019-24, currently in Australia), who plays in the Australian WNBL was not able to secure a victory for Geelong United (7-15) in their last game. Despite her very good performance Geelong United was crushed86-61 on the road by the leading Townsville Fire. Holmes was the top scorer with 24 points. She also added 8 rebounds in 39 minutes; not bad, considering it's only Holmes' second season in pro basketball. It was Geelong United's fifth consecutive loss in a row. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Holmes' first year with the team. She has individually a very good season with high stats. Holmes averages 25.8ppg, 10.6rpg, 1.4apg and 1.6bpg in five games.
