Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC We bring you last week's top former Eagles players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
Especially interesting is good performance of Zack Bryant (14 points), Jalen Finch (9 points), and Angel Matias (9 points).
#1. Zack Bryant, a 6'2'' guard who is 28 years old and graduated from Georgia South in 2021, currently plays professionally in Israel. In a recent game last Monday, Bryant, despite his strong performance, was unable to assist Bnei Hertzeliya (18-8) in securing a victory. The team suffered a disappointing 84-73 defeat at home against the lower-ranked Hapoel Holon (#5). Bryant showcased his skills by scoring 14 points, making him the second-highest scorer of the game. Additionally, he contributed 6 assists during his 37 minutes on the court. This season marks Bryant's debut with the team, and he has been making a significant impact with his impressive performances. In the game against Hapoel Holon, Bryant displayed his talent by scoring 14 points, grabbing 3 rebounds, and distributing 6 assists. Despite his notable contributions, Bnei Hertzeliya was unable to secure a win. Throughout the season, Bryant has maintained high statistics, averaging 21.1 points per game, along with 2.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game.
#2. Jalen Finch, a 6'1'' guard and 26-year-old Eagles alumnus from 2023, currently playing professionally in Germany, recently showcased his skills for Telekom Baskets Bonn. Despite his best efforts, he could not lead his team to victory over Bayern Muenchen in the German easyCredit BBL. In the matchup, Finch emerged as the second-best scorer for his team, contributing 9 points along with 5 assists in just 16 minutes of play. Unfortunately, Telekom Baskets Bonn fell short on the road against the formidable Bayern Muenchen, with the final score ending 83-78 in favor of the leading team. Despite Finch's impressive performance of 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists against Bayern Muenchen, his team was unable to secure the win. Throughout the season, Finch has maintained solid statistics, averaging 12.0 points per game, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. Despite the recent loss, Finch's consistent performance and contributions to his team's efforts mark him as a standout player in the league.
#3. Experienced Angel Matias, a 6'5'' forward aged 33, who graduated from Georgia South in 2015 and helped them reach the final of the Sun Belt Tournament that year, currently plays professionally in Puerto Rico. In a recent game, he played a crucial role in the Cangrejeros de Santurce's 95-92 victory over the league-leading Atleticos (15-9) with a remarkable 3-point shot. Matias, contributing 9 points during his 21 minutes on the court, showcased his skills and led his team to their fifth consecutive win. Cangrejeros de Santurce, currently ranked fifth in Group B with an 11-12 record, has been on a winning streak thanks in part to Matias' strong performances. His noteworthy game against San German, where he scored 9 points, grabbed 2 rebounds, and provided 1 assist, was instrumental in securing another victory for his team. This exceptional display further established his reputation as a champion player on the court. Throughout the season, Matias has maintained solid statistics, averaging 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. It is important to note that he holds dual American and Puerto Rican citizenship, allowing him to compete in Puerto Rico as a domestic player.
#4. Kaden Archie, a 6'6'' guard/forward and 26-year-old Eagles alumni from the class of 2023, currently playing professionally in Australia, showcased a stellar performance last Sunday despite being unable to carry the struggling North Adelaide Rockets (3-9) to victory. In a matchup against the Eastern Mavericks, who are ranked higher at #6 in the Central group, Archie's standout efforts were evident as he emerged as the top scorer for his team with 22 points. Additionally, he contributed 4 rebounds and 3 assists during his 38 minutes on the court. Despite his notable individual performance, North Adelaide Rockets succumbed to a 105-93 loss against the Eastern Mavericks. Archie's season has been impressive overall, maintaining strong averages of 17.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.
