Canada - Brazil 71-86
Brazil rolled over hosting Canada to celebrate the title at the Panamerican Games in Toronto. Augusto Lima (207-C-91), Rafael Hettsheimer (206-C-86) and Larry Taylor (185-PG-80, college: Missouri Western) scored 13 points each to lead well-balanced effort from the Latin American powerhouse. Brazil did not waste time jumping to a comfortable 48:29 halftime lead. Canada stopped the rot in the third term. The hosts pulled within 13 points at the final intermission. But Brazil sank 19 points in the fourth frame and eased to the victory. Anthony Bennett (203-F-93, college: UNLV) provided 18 points and 9 rebounds, while Jamal Murray (198-F/G-97) added 12 points in the loss.
3-4 Place
USA - Dominican Republic 87-82
The USA stepped onto the pedestal in Toronto. They held off Dominican Republic to earn the Bronze medals. Brown Bobby (188-PG-84, college: CS Fullerton) came up with 19 points to lead the effort. Dominican Republic jumped to a 26:15 lead after ten minutes. They extended the margin at 13-point mark at the final intermission. The USA however picked up the tempo in the second half. They pulled within 9 points at the final break. The North American team went on a 28:14 rally in the fourth frame to escape with a tough victory. Damien Wilkins (198-G-80, college: Georgia) delivered 18 points, while Taurean Prince (201-F-94) added 12 points for the winners. James Maye (201-G/F-81, college: NC-Greensboro) responded with 16 points for Dominican Republic.

USA - Canada 108-111 OT
Canada survived overtime thriller versus their North American rivals USA to advance into the Panamerican Games Final. Andrew Nicholson (206-PF-89, college: St.Bonaventure) stepped up with 31 points and 10 rebounds to lead the winners. Canada piled up a 52:47 halftime lead. However the USA replied with a 33:22 run in the third term to spur ahead. Canada had to come back from behind in the fourth frame to force overtime. The hosts dropped 14 points in the extra period and rallied to the victory. Jamal Murray (198-F/G-97) delivered 22 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds for the winners. Brown Bobby (188-PG-84, college: CS Fullerton) responded with 25 points and 7 assists for the USA.

Brazil - Dominican Republic 68-62
Brazil held off Dominican Republic to seal their Final appearance. Vitor Benite (191-SG-90) topscored for Brazil with 18 points. Brazil accounted for a 35:29 halftime lead. Dominican Republic erased the deficit tying things up at 50 at the final break. Brazil however limited their opponents to just 12 points in the fourth quarter and iced the victory. Augusto Lima (207-C-91) accounted for 15 points and 11 rebounds in the win. James Maye (201-G/F-81, college: NC-Greensboro) responded with 15 points for Dominican Republic.
5-6 Place
Puerto Rico - Argentina 85-105
Argentina clinched the fifth overall position at the Panamerican Games. They knocked down Puerto Rico in the final game at the tournament. Seven players scored in double digits for the winners. Facundo Campazzo (179-PG-91) stepped up with 17 points to pace the effort. Argentina recorded a 42:39 halftime lead. Argentina unleashed 63 points in the second half and marched to the victory. Federico Aguerre (203-F-88) and Juan Manuel Torres (210-C-84) delivered 13 points each for the winners. Jezreel De Jesus (185-G-91) responded with 12 points for Puerto Rico.

7-8 Place
Venezuela - Mexico 83-59
Venezuela capped their Panamerican Games campaign on a winning note. They rallied past Mexico to finish in the seventh position. John Cox (194-G-81, college: USF) accounted for 24 points in the victory. Venezuela recorded a 16:6 lead after the opening quarter. They accounted for a 45:29 halftime lead. Venezuela kept Mexico at bay throughout the second half marching to the victory. Jhornan Zamora (196-G-89) netted 15 points in the win. Marco Ramos (198-F-87, college: Grand Canyon) and Jesus Gonzalez (195-F-86) answered with 11 points apiece for Mexico.

Group A
USA - Brazil 83-93
Brazil silenced the USA to clinch the top position in Group A. Vitor Benite (191-SG-90) unloaded 34 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to lead the Latin American powerhouse. Brazil established a 47:38 halftime lead. They drained 28 points in the third term to clear off to an 18-point distance. The USA fired 26 points in the fourth frame but could not avoid the loss. Augusto Lima (207-C-91) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds in the victory. Keith Langford (193-SG-83, college: Kansas) responded with 17 points for the USA. Taurean Prince (201-F-94) and Brown Bobby (188-PG-84, college: CS Fullerton) had 16 points each in the defeat.

Puerto Rico - Venezuela 89-72
Puerto Rico fired past Venezuela to gain the first victory in Toronto. Puerto Rico finished at 1-2 record in Group A. Jose Juan Barea (183-PG-84, college: Northeastern) stepped up wtih 27 points and 6 assists for the winners. Puerto Rico opened a 23:13 lead after the opening quarter. Venezuela narrowed the gap in the next two periods. They pulled within a single point at the final break. But Puerto Rico responded with a 28:11 run in the fourth stanza to ice the victory. Devon Collier (203-PF-91, college: Oregon St.) finished with 21 points for the winners. John Cox (194-G-81, college: USF) and Nestor Colmenares (203-PF-87, agency: Pro Sports, college: Campbellsville) responded with 17 points each for Venezuela.

Group B
Dominican Republic - Argentina 70-80
Argentina knocked down Dominican Republic but failed to make into the semifinal stage. Dominican Republic managed to clinch the second position in Group B despite the loss. Nicolas Brussino (200-G/F-93) accounted for 21 points to pace the winners. Argentina used a strong 26:14 rally in the second period to take a 12-point lead. But Dominican Republic answered with a 20:10 rally of their own to narrow the gap at the final intermission. Argentina unleashed 26 points in the fourth frame but could not get much needed 14-point win at the end. Patricio Garino (198-G/F-93) delivered 13 points for the winners. James Maye (201-G/F-81, college: NC-Greensboro) responded with 19 points for Dominican Republic.

Canada - Mexico 96-76
Canada registered the third consecutive victory in Toronto. The hosts coasted past Mexico to finish on top of Group B. Brady Heslip (188-G-90, college: Baylor) stepped up with 20 points to pace the winners. Canada recorded a 27:16 lead after the opening quarter. They maintained the advantage throughout the rest of the contest. Canada entered the fourth frame up by 14 points and cruised to the win. Jamal Murray (198-F/G-97) had 14 points for the home team. Orlando Mendez-Valdez (183-G-86, agency: Pro Sports, college: W.Kentucky) responded with game-high 24 points for Mexico.

The USA cruised past Puerto Rico for the second straight victory in Group A. Brown Bobby (188-PG-84, college: CS Fullerton) accounted for 16 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds for the winners. The USA cleared off to a comfortable 65:29 halftime lead. Puerto Rico slowed down their opponents in the second half but could not avoid the defeat at the end. Damien Wilkins (198-G-80, college: Georgia) and Denzel Valentine (196-G-93) added 15 points each for the winners. Javier Mojica (190-SG-84, agency: Paris Global Sports, college: Cent.Conn.St.) responded with 15 points for Puerto Rico.

Venezuela - Brazil 64-79
Brazil outgunned Venezuela to gain the second straight win in Toronto. Vitor Benite (191-SG-90) responded with 14 points for the winners. Brazil accounted for a 37:23 halftime lead. Venezuela pulled within 11 points at the final intermission. Brazil however responded with 25 points in the fourth frame to rally to the victory. Argentina - Canada 83-88

Dominican Republic - Mexico 95-70
Dominican Republic cruised past Mexico for the opening victory at the Panamerican Games. James Maye (201-G/F-81, college: NC-Greensboro) stepped up with 22 points to lead the winners. Dominican Republic piled up a 51:40 halftime lead. Dominican Republic unloaded 30 points in the third term to boost the gap at 25-point mark. They never looked back en route to the win. Gerardo Suero (193-G-89, college: Albany) and Edward Santana (203-F/C-80) finished with 18 points each for the winners. Francisco Cruz (190-G-89, college: Wyoming) answered with 21 points for Mexico.

The USA got to the winning start of their Panamerican Games campaign. They knocked down Venezuela for 1-0 record in Group A. Damien Wilkins (198-G-80, college: Georgia) finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Venezuela enjoyed a 41:33 halftime lead. But the USA turned the tables in the second half. They went on a 52:21 rally to seal a comfortable victory. Anthony Randolph (211-F/C-89, college: LSU) finished with 16 points for the winners. John Cox (194-G-81, college: USF) and Luis Bethelmy (200-F/C-86) responded with 14 points each for Venezuela.

Brazil - Puerto Rico 92-59
Brazil rallied past Puerto Rico in the opener. Rafael Hettsheimer (206-C-86) stepped up with 19 points for teh winners. Brazil overwhelmed Puerto Rico in the first half. They recorded a comfortable 60:17 halftime lead. Puerto Rico narrowed the gap in the second half but could not avoid the defeat. Vitor Benite (191-SG-90) posted 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Jezreel De Jesus (185-G-91) and Gilberto Clavell (200-F-89, agency: Inception Sports, college: Sam Houston St.) responded with 8 points apiece for Puerto Rico.

Canada - Dominican Republic 105-88
Canada eased past Dominican Republic in the opener in Toronto. Brady Heslip (188-G-90, college: Baylor) stepped up with 24 points to lead the hosts. Canada unloaded 54 points in the first half to secure a 17-point lead. Dominican Republic narrowed the gap at 14-point mark at the final intermission. But the hosts dropped 29 points in the fourth stanza and iced the victory. Anthony Bennett (203-F-93, college: UNLV) accounted for 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Gerardo Suero (193-G-89, college: Albany) responded with 17 points for Dominican Republic.

Mexico - Argentina 86-84 OT
Mexico nipped Argentina in the first game in Group B. Hector Hernandez (205-PF-85, agency: Pro Sports, college: Fresno St.) recorded 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Mexico registered a 37:29 halftime advantage. They unloaded 27 points in the third term to gain a 13-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. But Argentina responded with a 25:12 surge in the fourth period to force overtime. However Mexico drained 10 points in the extra period and iced the victory. Gabriel Giron (190-G-88) netted 17 points in the win. Nicolas Laprovittola (193-PG-90) responded with 21 points for Argentina.
