Puerto Rico celebrate title in San Juan - Aug 9, 2015

Puerto Rico - U.S. Virgin Islands 101-57 Puerto Rico fired past US Virgin Islands to celebrate the title in San Juan. The hosts dominated from start to finish to march to the trophy. Puerto Rico unloaded 47 points in the first half to take a 23-point halftime lead. They followed with a 54-point effort in the second half to coast to the success. Seven players scored in double figures for Puerto Rico as they ease to the win. Luis Lopez (182-G) notched 15 points for Puerto Rico. Jorge Pacheco (185-SG-97) and C Negron delivered 13 points apiece in the victory. Rahkeem Swanston responded with 13 points for US Virgin Islands.

Dominican Republic - Mexico 76-60 Dominican Republic stepped onto the pedestal in San Juan. They held off Mexico to clinch the Bronze medals. Dominican Republic also secured U18 Fiba Americas Championship birth with the win. Daniel Vitiello (178-PG-99) posted 18 points to lead the winners. Mexico led by four points at the first intermission. But Dominican Republic used a strong 25:11 run in the second frame to spur ahead for good. They stayed in charge throughout the second half and marched to the win. Jose Perez (195-G) delivered 17 points for the winners. Brayan Au (192-F) responded with 19 points and 7 steals for Mexico.

Guatemala - Bahamas 69-74 Bahamas outgunned Guatemala to finish fifth at the tournament. Deondre Vilmar (193-PG-97) stepped up with 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge. Bahamas built a 37:33 halftime lead. They protected it well throughout the second half and marched to the victory. Sherman Robinson (198-SF) and Howard Hinzey (195-SF) chipped in 10 points each for Bahamas. David Sequeira (181-C) responded with 21 points for Guatemala.
7-8 Place
Barbados - Costa Rica 57-59 Costa Rica wrapped up their Centrobasket campaign on a high note. They nipped Barbados in the battle for the seventh position. Stephan Campbell (197-PF) stepped up with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Costa Rica and Barbados were tied at 28 at the big break. Costa Rica spurred ahead for a 41:38 advantage at the final break. Barbados knocked down 19 points in the fourth frame but could not avoid the defeat. Steven Mcdonald (197-C) delivered 12 points and 12 rebounds in the victory. Amal Smith (200-C) responded with 17 points and 17 rebounds for Barbados.

Puerto Rico - Dominican Republic 86-67 Puerto Rico will play in the Final in San Juan. They overcame Dominican Republic in the semifinal clash. Puerto Rico also booked their U18 FIBA Americas Championship birth for 2016 with the victory. Jorge Pacheco (185-SG-97) stepped up with 26 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico were tied at 37 at halftime. Puerto Rico sank 49 points in the second half and coasted to the victory. Jesus Cruz (195-F/G-98) delivered 22 points for the winners. Jose Perez (195-G) responded with 25 points for Dominican Republic.
Mexico - U.S. Virgin Islands 55-70 US Virgin Islands stormed past Mexico into the Centrobasket Final. Nicolas Claxton recorded 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge. Mexico eked out an 18:17 lead after ten minutes. US Virgin Islands went on a 26:8 run in the second frame to gain a comfortable 17-point halfitme lead. They protected it well throughout the second half marching to the win. Malcolm Farrington connected for 14 points for the winners. Brayan Au (192-F) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds for Mexico.

Costa Rica - Bahamas 50-61 Bahamas upset Costa Rica to set the clash versus Guatemala for the fifth position at the tournament. Deondre Vilmar (193-PG-97) connected for 19 points and 16 rebounds in the win. Bahamas registered a 31:29 halftime lead. They used a 17:8 run in the third term to clear off for good. Franco Miller (187-SG) tossed in 14 points for the winners. Steven Mcdonald (197-C) responded with 18 points and 11 rebounds for Costa Rica.
Guatemala - Barbados 66-57 Guatemala held off Barbados in the classification round battle in San Juan. Hector Chur (179-F) stepped up with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guatemala recorded a 37:27 halftime lead. Guatemala held their opponents to 30 points in the second half and secured the winning outcome at the end. Mexico - Costa Rica 79-37 Mexico cruised past Costa Rica to finish preliminary round undefeated. Six players came up with double figures in the victory.
