#1. Experienced champion Tanner Omlid, a 6'5'' forward aged 32, graduated from WOU in 2018 and received the prestigious All-GNAC Player of the Year award that same year. Currently playing professionally in Portugal, Omlid recently played a crucial role in FC Porto's triumph over the league leader Benfica with a score of 102-98 in the Portuguese Liga Betclic Masculina during Tuesday night's game. In the highly anticipated matchup between two top 4 ranked teams, Omlid's stellar performance stood out as he scored 16 points, secured 9 rebounds, and executed 2 blocks in just 29 minutes of play. These impressive statistics underscored his value as a finalist and key player for FC Porto, who currently holds the third position in the league with a record of 15-7. Omlid's remarkable display on the court not only contributed significantly to FC Porto's victory over Benfica but also highlighted his exceptional skills as a champion. Throughout this season, Omlid has maintained solid averages of 9.0 points per game, 6.4 rebounds per game, 1.6 assists per game, and 2.1 steals per game (ranking third best in the league) across the 23 games he has competed in thus far. His consistent performance showcases his unwavering commitment to excellence and makes him a formidable presence in the league.
#2. British champion Lewis Thomas, a 6'8'' forward aged 34 and a Wolves alumnus from 2015, contributed to their GNAC Regular Season championship victory that year. Currently playing professionally in Australia, he recently played for Kalamunda Eastern Suns (10-4) in their latest game. Despite his impressive performance, Thomas couldn't help his team secure a win as they lost 118-124 on the road to the second-ranked Wanneroo in the West group. In that game, he showcased his skills with 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists in 38 minutes of play. This marks Thomas' debut season with the team. In a standout performance against Joondalup W, Thomas scored 15 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and provided 7 assists, yet his team fell short of victory. Over the course of this season, Thomas has maintained solid averages of 6.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 blocks, and 2.1 steals per game in the 14 games he has participated in thus far. Cameron Benzel, a 6'7'' forward who graduated from WOU in 2024 and currently plays professionally in the USBL, showcased his skills in a recent game where he led the Salem Capitals to a thrilling 89-85 victory over the San Diego Surf. Despite being only in his second season in professional basketball, he delivered a remarkable double-double, scoring 18 points, securing 13 rebounds, and adding 3 blocks in 40 minutes on the court. His exceptional display of talent didn't go unnoticed, as he was recognized with the Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, further solidifying his reputation as a champion player. Although Veliz displayed an impressive performance against the Seattle Super Hawks, tallying 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists, his team ultimately fell short in securing the win.
