Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC Every week we bring you a list of the top former Lady Rebels players who continue their career in pro basketball.
#1. Shakira Austin, a 6'5'' forward who is 26 years old and graduated from Ole Miss in 2022, is a true champion in the world of basketball. She currently plays professionally in the WNBA and recently led the Washington Mystics to a victory over the Seattle Storm with a score of 78-64. In this game, Austin was not only a finalist but also earned the title of MVP with an outstanding performance. During the game, Austin showcased her skills by recording a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, along with 5 assists while maintaining a perfect 5-for-5 record from the free-throw line in just 29 minutes of play. Her exceptional performance earned her the Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, highlighting her talent and impact on the game. Despite the Washington Mystics having a somewhat unimpressive 3-3 record this season, Austin's individual performance has been exceptional, averaging 15.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game. It is evident that Shakira Austin is truly a champion on the court, consistently delivering high-quality performances and making a significant difference in each game she plays.
#2. Cotie McMahon, a 22-year-old 6'0'' forward and alumna of Lady Rebels from 2026, who was awarded the All-SEC Newcomer of the Year, currently plays professionally in the WNBA. She is a teammate of the previously mentioned Shakira Austin. In a recent game against the Seattle Storm, McMahon, unfortunately, could not lead her team, the Washington Mystics (3-3), to victory as they were defeated 97-85 on the road. During the game, McMahon played for 16 minutes and scored only 2 points. Despite her efforts, which included 2 rebounds and 1 assist, her team ended up on the losing side. This game did not showcase one of McMahon's best performances. Throughout this season, McMahon has been averaging 5.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.
#3. Tyia Singleton, a 27-year-old 6'2'' forward who graduated from Ole Miss in 2024 and currently plays professionally in Australia, showcased her skills for Hobart Chargers in their recent game. Despite her impressive performance, the 14th-placed Hobart Chargers were unable to secure a victory as they were defeated 102-77 by the second-ranked Wildcats in the South group. Singleton demonstrated her prowess on the court by recording a double-double, scoring 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in 33 minutes of play. In the face of tough competition, Singleton stood out with her remarkable contribution against Eltham Wildcats, scoring 24 points, securing 14 rebounds, and providing 1 assist. Although her individual performance was outstanding, Hobart Chargers ultimately fell short in the game. Singleton's exceptional performance did not go unnoticed, as she was awarded the prestigious Triple-Double Badge by eurobasket.com, solidifying her status as a true champion in the realm of basketball. Throughout the season, Singleton has maintained relatively good statistics, averaging 13.6 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game. Her consistent performance and dedication to the game highlight her potential as a formidable finalist in the world of basketball.
