Here is the weekly review of the top performing Aztecs alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.



   #1. Malachi Flynn, a 6'1'' point guard who graduated from SDSU in 2020 and received the All-MWC Player of the Year award that year, currently plays professionally in Turkey. In a recent game, he led Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul to a convincing 98-83 victory over Fenerbahce, one of the league's weaker teams, earning him the title of MVP. Despite it being his first game of the season for Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul, Flynn showcased his talent by scoring 17 points, distributing 5 assists, and playing a key role in securing the win. This performance further solidified his reputation as a champion and finalist. It's interesting to note that Flynn holds both American and Turkish citizenship, allowing him to compete in Turkey as a domestic player. With his team currently placed third in the league, the season is still in its early stages, leaving room for exciting developments ahead.

   #2. Matt Mitchell, a 6'7'' forward and 27-year-old Aztecs alumnus from 2021, currently plays professionally in Turkey. Recently, he showcased his skills by leading Glint Korfez Basket Kocaeli to a triumphant 88-79 victory over the closely-ranked Erokspor in a Turkish ING Basketbol Super Ligi match on Monday night. In this game, Mitchell displayed his prowess by contributing 12 points and 4 assists, impressively making all five of his free throws in just 20 minutes of play. This performance marked his debut game for Glint Korfez Basket Kocaeli this season. With Mitchell's valuable contributions, his team currently holds the fourth position in the league standings. His stellar performance against Erokspor was pivotal in securing the win for his team. Mitchell's abilities on the court truly shone as he guided his team to success against their opponents, showcasing why he is considered a champion player.

   #3. Syrian Trey Kell III, a 6'4'' guard who graduated from SDSU in 2018 and received the All-MWC All-Tournament MVP award that year, is currently playing professionally in Japan for Link Tochigi Brex Utsunomiya. In the recent game against the Grouses, despite Kell III's impressive performance, Tochigi Brex ended up losing 67-77 on the road to the higher-ranked team. Kell III, who is in his first season with the team, demonstrated his skills by achieving a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds in 33 minutes of play. Despite the loss, Kell III's exceptional display on the court against Toyama G. earned him the Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, further solidifying his reputation as a champion player. Throughout the season, Kell III has maintained high statistics, averaging 20.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game in the three games he has played so far. As a naturalized American, Kell III continues to showcase his talent and contribute significantly to his team's performance.

   #4. In a recent game in the Slovakian Tipos Slovenska Basketbalova Liga, the 6'10'' forward Jared Coleman-Jones, a 26-year-old Aztecs alumni from 2025 who currently plays professionally in Slovakia, showcased his talent as he led Prievidza to a decisive 97-79 victory over the eighth-ranked Lucenec (1-2). Despite being only in his second season in professional basketball, Coleman-Jones put up an impressive performance, scoring 15 points and blocking 2 shots in just 24 minutes on the court. These contributions were instrumental in BC Prievidza (2-0) securing the win and placing second in the league standings. Additionally, in the game against Lucenec, Coleman-Jones demonstrated his versatility by not only scoring 15 points but also grabbing 3 rebounds and providing 2 assists. His well-rounded performance played a key role in his team's success, ultimately earning him the title of the game's champion. Throughout the season, Coleman-Jones has maintained solid statistics, averaging 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game across two matches. His consistent contributions on both ends of the court have solidified his position as a standout player in the league.

   #5. Jaedon LeDee, a 6'9'' forward who graduated from SDSU in 2024 and was recognized as a Jersey Mike's Naismith Player of the Year Semifinalist that year, is currently playing professionally in Japan. In a recent game for the Kawasaki Brave Thunders, despite his outstanding performance, the team faced a tough 78-90 loss against the second-ranked Dolphins in the Eastern Conference. LeDee showcased his talent by scoring 23 points and grabbing 7 rebounds in 36 minutes of play, highlighting his skills in only his third season in professional basketball. Despite his individual success, the team has yet to secure a win in the Regular Season, with a current record of 0-3. In the game against the Nagoya DD, LeDee's impressive stats continued to shine as he contributed 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist. With an average of 18.7 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game over three games, LeDee is having a standout year individually, even though his team has faced challenges on the court.

   #6. Skylar Spencer, a talented 6'9'' forward/center and 32-year-old Aztecs alum from the class of 2016, currently showcasing his skills in professional basketball in Italy. Recently, he made a significant impact in a game for Old Wild West Udine, helping them secure a commanding 87-63 victory over the 13th-ranked Scafati in the Italian Serie A. Despite recording modest statistics of 4 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks in just 19 minutes of play, Spencer's presence was crucial in the team's success. In his debut game for Udine this season, Spencer demonstrated his defensive prowess and strategic play, contributing not only with his scoring and rebounding but also with a well-timed assist. His performance against Scafati showcased his ability to influence the game positively and make crucial plays when needed.    #7. Jalen McDaniels, a 6'9'' power forward, who is 28 years old and a 2019 graduate of SDSU, is currently playing professionally in Japan. In a recent game, he led the Kobe Storks to an 84-78 victory against the eighth-ranked Evessa in the Japanese B.League. McDaniels showcased his skills as a champion by scoring 15 points and recording 3 steals in 32 minutes of play. In another game against Osaka E., McDaniels had an impressive performance scoring 15 points, grabbing 3 rebounds, and dishing out 2 assists, contributing significantly to his team's victory.    #8. Yannick Wetzell, a 30-year-old center standing at 6'9'' and an alumnus of Aztecs from 2020, played a pivotal role in helping them clinch the MWC Regular Season Champion title that year. Currently playing professionally in Japan, Wetzell recently faced a tough match where his team, Akita Northern Happinets, suffered a defeat against the Sun Rockers in Tokyo. Despite Wetzell's remarkable performance, scoring 12 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and providing 5 assists in 29 minutes, Akita NH, who are placed 11th, were overwhelmed by the higher-ranked Sun Rockers (#4) in the Eastern Conference. His exceptional skills were on full display during the game, leading him to achieve a double-double and showcasing his talent on the court. Wetzell's noteworthy performance even earned him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, highlighting his prowess as a true champion in the sport.    #9. Wayne McKinney III, a 6'0'' point guard who graduated from SDSU in 2025 and currently plays professionally in Latvia, was unable to lead LU to a victory in their recent game. Despite his notable performance, the underdog LU team, currently standing at 0-2, suffered a significant 108-92 defeat at home against the much higher-ranked (#7) Ventspils. McKinney III displayed an impressive showing during the game, contributing 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists in just 30 minutes of play. Although he showcased his skills against the formidable Ventspils team, LU was unable to secure a win and ended up on the losing side. Throughout the season, McKinney III has maintained good statistical performance, averaging 14.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in the two games played so far. His consistent contributions on the court demonstrate his capabilities as a skilled player in the league.

   #10. Darrion Trammell, a 5'10'' point guard who is 25 years old and an Aztecs alumnus from 2024, reached the final of the MWC Tournament that year before starting his professional career in Hungary. Recently, he has been playing for Falco-Vulcano Energia KC Szombathely in the Hungarian Nemzeti Bajnoksag I/A league. In a recent game on Saturday night, Trammell helped his team secure a convincing 94-75 victory against Phoenix-MT, one of the league's weaker teams. Despite only scoring 2 points in 18 minutes of play, Trammell made a notable impact in his first game of the season. He also contributed with 1 assist, demonstrating his abilities as a finalist on the court. His performance was instrumental in leading his team to success and highlighted his skills as a champion.
