Notice impressive performance of Will Clyburn (22 points), Luis Valera (14 points), and Edvin Tedesjo (11 points).
#1. Experienced champion Will Clyburn, a 6'7'' forward aged 35, who graduated from Iowa State in 2013 and previously played in Marshalltown between 2008 and 2010 before going pro in Spain, showcased his prowess on Friday night. He led his Spanish team FC Barcelona Lassa to a resounding 95-69 victory over the 13th-ranked Bayern Muenchen in the Euroleague, where he was named the game's MVP. Clyburn's remarkable performance included scoring 22 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists in just 27 minutes of play. FC Barcelona Lassa, currently placed ninth in the league with a record of 21-17, secured their first win after three consecutive losses, thanks in large part to Clyburn's exceptional contributions on the court. With only one more game left in the Euroleague Regular Season, the upcoming match holds significant importance for both Clyburn and his team. With impressive season stats of 13.4 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, 1.6 assists per game, and 1.1 steals per game, Clyburn's consistent performance underscores his reputation as a champion player who continues to excel at the highest level.
#2. Venezuelan Luis Valera, a 6'7'' forward/center who is 37 years old, is a former Vaqueros alumni from 2010. He also played in Marshalltown between 2006 and 2008 before turning pro in Spain. Despite his experience, Valera was unable to lead Guadalajara (10-15) to victory in their recent game last Saturday. The ninth-placed Guadalajara suffered a 70-63 defeat at home against the higher-ranked Rivas (#3) in Group B-B. Even though Valera delivered a strong performance, scoring 14 points and collecting 5 rebounds in 33 minutes of play, his contribution was not enough to secure a win for his team. With just one more game left in the Regular Season, every match is crucial for Guadalajara. This season marks Valera's first with the team, and he has been showcasing his skills on the court. Against Rivas, he exhibited an impressive display of talent, scoring 14 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and providing 2 assists. Despite his solid individual performance, Guadalajara fell short against their opponents. Valera has been maintaining relatively good statistics throughout the season, averaging 14.8 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and 1.2 steals per game. He continues to be a key player for his team as they strive for success in the remaining matches of the season.
#3. Swedish champion Edvin Tedesjo, a towering 6'11'' center, who is 27 years old and a graduate of OLLU in 2021, showcased his skills on the basketball court for Lulea Steelers. Despite having played for Marshalltown between 2017 and 2019, Tedesjo is now a professional player in Sweden. In a thrilling match on Saturday night, Tedesjo led his team to a hard-fought victory against the ninth-ranked Hammarby with a final score of 93-88 in the Swedish Basketettan, which is the third division of basketball in Sweden. During the game, Tedesjo displayed his versatility by achieving a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds in 39 minutes of play. Lulea Steelers, currently holding the second position in the North group with a record of 22-4, have completed the Regular Season. Tedesjo, in his fourth season with the team, demonstrated exceptional performance against Hammarby by not only scoring and rebounding but also providing 2 assists. Thanks to his outstanding performance, Tedesjo was awarded the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, further establishing his reputation as a true champion. This season, Tedesjo has maintained impressive statistics with an average of 12.7 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.6 blocks per game, which ranks him as the fourth-best shot blocker in the league.
#4. Australian basketball player Angus Ole, standing at 6'6'' and 22 years old, is a former Hillcats alumnus from 2026. He previously played in Marshalltown between 2022 and 2024 before joining a professional team in Australia. In his debut game for the Penrith Panthers this season, Ole contributed 6 points in 15 minutes of play. Unfortunately, the Penrith Panthers, currently ranked 15th with a 0-3 record, were unable to secure a victory against the Sydney City Comets, who are ranked 5th in the East group with a 3-1 record. Despite Ole's commendable performance, the Panthers suffered a significant 95-56 loss on the road. However, with the season still in its early stages, there is ample opportunity for the team to turn their results around. Ole's display of skill on the court against the Sydney City Comets demonstrates his potential as a promising player in the league.
#5. Angolan Eric Bras Amandio, a 27-year-old guard standing at 6'3'', graduated from Oklahoma City in 2022. He previously played in Marshalltown between 2019 and 2020 before making his move to Spain to play professionally. Amandio showcased his talent by leading Santa Cruz to a decisive 82-71 victory over the 13th-ranked Corralejo in the Spanish Tercera FEB, the fourth division, on Saturday night. Amandio's stellar performance earned him the MVP title of the game, as he posted an impressive double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds, along with 6 assists in just 31 minutes of play. His remarkable contributions on the court proved pivotal in securing the win for Santa Cruz. Fundacion CB Canarias Santa Cruz currently holds the eighth position in Group B-A, with only three games remaining in the Regular Season. Each upcoming game will be crucial for the team as they aim to secure their position in the standings. This season marks Amandio's debut with the team, and his exceptional display against Corralejo further solidified his reputation as a champion player. His remarkable performance even earned him the prestigious Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, highlighting his all-around skills and impact on the game. Throughout the season, Amandio has maintained solid statistics, averaging 13.6 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game, and 1.3 steals per game. Currently playing professionally in Jordan, Coleman recently played a crucial role in Al Jubaiha's victory over the closely-ranked Al Iglizia with a score of 92-83 in the Jordanian Premier League on Sunday night. In a standout performance, Coleman achieved a double-double by contributing 22 points, securing 14 rebounds, and providing 3 assists in 36 minutes of play. Throughout the season, Coleman has maintained impressive individual statistics, averaging 23.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. His consistent performance and impact on the court demonstrate why he is recognized as a finalist.
#7. Nigerian basketball champion Denzel Ubiaro, a 6'3'' guard who graduated from Marshalltown in 2016 and currently plays professionally in the United Kingdom, was unable to lead the Bristol Hurricanes to victory in their recent game last Saturday. Despite his commendable performance, where he scored 18 points and contributed 3 assists in 36 minutes of play, Bristol Hurricanes (6-19) suffered a defeat at the hands of the highly ranked Cavaliers (#6) in London, with a final score of 87-75. Ubiaro showcased his skills as the second best scorer for his team, demonstrating his prowess on the court with his offensive capabilities. In a valiant effort against the London Cavaliers, he notched 18 points, secured 1 rebound, and distributed 3 assists, displaying his well-rounded game. Despite his impressive individual statistics this season, averaging 16.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, Ubiaro's standout performances have unfortunately not always translated into victories for his team. It is interesting to note that Ubiaro holds dual citizenship, being both American and Nigerian, which allows him the flexibility to potentially compete in Nigeria as a domestic player in the future, further showcasing his versatility and international appeal as a basketball champion.
#8. Troidell Carter, a 6'9'' center and 34-year-old alumni of The Rock from 2018, previously played in Marshalltown between 2013 and 2014 before going pro in El Salvador. In this game, Kao showcased his skills by contributing 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists during his 40 minutes on the court. In another standout performance against Taiwan Beer L, Kao again displayed his prowess with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Despite his best efforts, Ainembabazi could not lead London Cavaliers to victory against the Trailblazers in the recent game. Scoring only 2 points in 17 minutes of play, he found it difficult to make a significant impact as his team suffered an 86-81 defeat. Although Sunday's game was not one of his best, Ainembabazi showed his potential in a previous match against Derby T., where he contributed 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.
