#1. Experienced Jamaican Tyran De Lattibeaudiere, a 6'5'' power forward at 35 years old who graduated from Lamar in 2015 and received the All-Southland Conf. Newcomer of the Year award that year, currently plays professionally in Mexico. In a recent game, he led Astros de Jalisco to a 94-80 victory over the seventh-ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (18-22) in the Mexican Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacifico. De Lattibeaudiere was named the MVP of the game after achieving a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds in just 29 minutes of play. Astros de Jalisco, with a record of 38-2, holds the top position in the league standings. This win marked their 14th consecutive victory. De Lattibeaudiere's outstanding performance, scoring 24 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and providing 1 assist against Culiacan, undoubtedly demonstrated his prowess as a champion on the court. Throughout the season, De Lattibeaudiere has maintained solid statistics, averaging 15.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per game in the 38 games he has played so far. His consistent contributions have been instrumental in his team's success, solidifying his reputation as a finalist in the league.
#2. Danquez Dawsey, a 6'2'' guard and 23-year-old Cardinals alumnus from 2025, made a significant impact in the Southland Conf. Tournament that year, helping his team reach the final. Currently playing professionally in the TBL, Dawsey showcased his talent by leading the Tri-City Tide to a decisive 102-89 victory over the DC Heat (14-5) last Friday. In this thrilling matchup between two top-ranked teams in the Atlantic Canada group, Dawsey displayed his prowess on the court. Scoring 18 points, securing 7 rebounds, and delivering 3 assists in just 32 minutes of play, Dawsey's performance was remarkable, especially considering this is his debut season in professional basketball. Notably, he was flawless from the free-throw line, going 6-for-6. The game against the DC Heat marked the Tri-City Tide's ninth consecutive win, further solidifying Dawsey's role as a key player in his team's success. His exceptional performance not only contributed to the team's victory but also highlighted his capabilities as a champion. Individually, Dawsey has been having an outstanding season, boasting impressive averages of 16.7 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, and 5.9 assists per game across 21 games. His consistent high-level performance demonstrates his potential to excel and make a significant impact as a finalist in the league.
