Especially interesting is good performance of Jason Burnell (10 points), Brandon Huffman (11 points), and Malcolm Drumwright (10 points).
#1. Jason Burnell, a 6'7'' forward who is 28 years old and a finalist at Jax State in 2019, currently plays professionally in Italy. In Brescia's recent game against Trieste, despite his solid performance, Burnell was unable to lead his team to victory. He contributed 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist in 26 minutes on the court. Throughout the season, Burnell has maintained impressive stats, averaging 13.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in the 29 games he has participated in so far. His consistent performance showcases his skills as a champion player.
#2. Brandon Huffman, a towering 6'10'' center and Gamecocks alumni from 2022, currently plays professionally in Latvia. Despite his impressive background as a former A-Sun West Division Regular Season Champion, Huffman was unable to lead VEF Riga to victory in their recent matchup against Rigas Zelli. The final score saw VEF Riga falling short, 80-93, in a closely contested game against the higher-ranked (#4) opponent. Even though VEF Riga faced defeat, Huffman's performance on the court was noteworthy. He managed to achieve a double-double, scoring 11 points and securing 12 rebounds in just 21 minutes of play. His standout contribution of 11 points and 12 rebounds against Rigas Zelli highlighted his exceptional skills and capabilities as a player. Despite his individual success, the team was unable to emerge victorious in the game. Huffman's consistent performance throughout the season is evident in his statistics, averaging 12.6 points per game, 9.6 rebounds per game (leading the league in this category), and 1.1 blocks per game (ranking third in the league) over the course of eight games played so far. His remarkable display of talent earned him the Triple-Double Badge from eurobasket.com, further solidifying his reputation as a champion player in the league.
#3. Malcolm Drumwright, a 6'2'' point guard who graduated from Jax State in 2018, is a key player for his team in Georgia's professional league. Recently, he showcased his skills in a dominating performance against the closely-ranked Orbi, where his team emerged victorious with a commanding 89-68 win in the Georgian Superleague. Despite his team's tough opponent, Drumwright managed to score 10 points and provide 2 assists in 31 minutes of play, contributing significantly to the win. Tbilisi State University, currently holding the second position in the league with a record of 14-6, benefits greatly from Drumwright's presence on the court. His consistent performance and leadership qualities were evident in the game against Orbi, where his efforts helped secure the important victory. Drumwright's all-around contributions this season, averaging 6.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game in 27 appearances, highlight his value as a champion player.
#4. Lithuanian Norbertas Giga, a 6'10'' forward/center who is 30 years old and an alumnus of the Gamecocks from 2018, has been making waves in the Paraguayan basketball scene. His stellar performance for Colonias in their recent match against Felix Perez was instrumental in securing a 90-83 victory in a highly anticipated derby game in the Paraguayan LNB. Giga showcased his skills by recording a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, along with contributing 5 assists during his 31 minutes on the court. The game between Colonias Gold and Felix Perez was a showdown between two top 4 ranked teams, with Colonias Gold currently holding the third spot in the league standings. Giga's exceptional display helped his team secure their seventh consecutive win, further solidifying their position in the league as they head towards the final stretch of the Regular Season. With only four games remaining in the season, each match becomes increasingly crucial for teams vying for a spot in the playoffs. Giga's consistent performance throughout the season has been remarkable, averaging 11.4 points, 11.3 rebounds (leading the league), 4.0 assists, and 1.9 steals (ranking third in the league) over seven games.
