Here is the weekly review of the top performing Cyclones alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.



   #1. Talen Horton-Tucker, a 25-year-old guard who graduated from Iowa State in 2019, is currently showcasing his talent as a professional player in Turkey. Recently, he played a key role in leading his Turkish team Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul to a resounding victory over Bayern Muenchen in the Euroleague. In an impressive display, Horton-Tucker scored 19 points, secured 5 rebounds, and provided 4 assists in just 20 minutes of play, earning him the MVP title for the game. This outstanding performance solidified his reputation as a champion. Despite the early stage of the season, Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul holds a promising position in the league, currently placed fifth. Horton-Tucker's remarkable individual statistics further highlight his exceptional year, averaging 16.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in the two games he has played thus far. As a finalist, Horton-Tucker continues to excel on the court, demonstrating his skills and contributing significantly to his team's success.

   #2. Experienced Canadian Melvin Ejim, a 6'7'' forward who is 35 years old and an alumnus of the Cyclones from 2014, currently plays professionally in Spain. Recently, he made a noteworthy debut for iLerna Lleida, contributing to their victory against Valencia in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Despite playing for just 20 minutes, Ejim managed to score 9 points, showcasing his skills on the court. This marked his first game of the season for iLerna Lleida, who currently holds the fifth position in the league standings. In the match against Valencia, Ejim displayed an impressive performance by not only scoring 9 points but also securing 3 rebounds and providing 2 assists. His valuable contributions played a pivotal role in guiding his team to success and ultimately emerging as the champion. It is worth noting that Ejim, in addition to being Canadian, holds Nigerian citizenship, adding to his diverse background and experience in the world of basketball.

   #3. Will Clyburn, a 6'7'' forward who graduated from Iowa State in 2013 and received the All-Big 12 Newcomer of the Year award in the same year, currently plays professional basketball in Turkey. He is a teammate of Talen Horton-Tucker. In a recent Euroleague match, Clyburn played a crucial role in Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul's victory over Virtus Bologna, one of the league's struggling teams with a record of 0-2. Clyburn scored 8 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, and provided 1 assist in 19 minutes of play, aiding his team to a 78-68 win. Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, with a record of 2-0, currently holds the fifth position in the league standings. The team suffered a significant loss of 119-101 on the road against the formidable FC Barcelona, despite Conditt IV's standout showing. As the top scorer, he contributed 17 points, along with 8 rebounds and 2 blocks, all within 23 minutes of play. This game marked his debut for Coruna in the current season, showcasing an impressive display against Barcelona. Despite his individual efforts, Coruna couldn't secure the win against the reigning champions.

   #5. Burkinabe Bubu Palo, a 6'2'' shooting guard who is 35 years old and graduated from Iowa St. in 2014, currently plays professionally in France. In a recent game, Palo was unable to lead SO Maritime Boulogne to victory. Despite his standout performance, the seventh-placed Boulogne suffered a 72-77 defeat against the fourth-ranked Loon-Plage in Group A on the opponent's court. Palo displayed his skills by scoring 17 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in 28 minutes of play, making him the top performer for his team. This game marked his debut for SO Maritime Boulogne this season. Despite his impressive contributions, including 2 assists, Palo's team was unable to secure the win. It is worth noting that Palo, originally from Burkina Faso, is a naturalized American player.

Brandton Chatfield, a 6'10'' forward and 25-year-old alum of Cyclones from 2025, showcased his skills as a professional player in Japan by leading Earthfriends Tokyo Z to a 79-73 victory against the second-ranked Dice last Saturday in the Japanese B.One League. During the game, Chatfield displayed an impressive all-around performance, contributing 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in 33 minutes on the court. In a standout display of skill and determination against Tachikawa, Chatfield once again proved his worth by scoring 16 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and dishing out 4 assists, ultimately securing the win for his team. His consistent and impactful presence on the court truly embodied the qualities of a champion. Throughout the current season, Chatfield has maintained solid statistics, averaging 12.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game in the two games he has played so far. His performance and contributions undoubtedly position him as a formidable player and a finalist in the making.

   #7. Barbados Hason Ward, a 26-year-old forward standing at 6'9'' who graduated from Iowa State in 2024, is currently playing professional basketball in Germany. Recently, he showcased his talent by contributing to Bamberg Baskets' dominant 108-67 victory over Rasta Vechta, one of the weaker teams in the German easyCredit BBL, last Thursday. In the game, Ward may have scored only 4 points, but his impact extended beyond scoring as he grabbed 7 rebounds and blocked 3 shots in just 21 minutes of play. Despite his modest point total, Ward's defensive presence and rebounding prowess were crucial in securing the decisive win for his team. Throughout the season, Ward has been a consistent performer, averaging 6.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, and an impressive 2.0 blocks per game, which ranks him as the second-best shot blocker in the league. His well-rounded contributions on both ends of the court have undoubtedly solidified his reputation as a champion. It is worth noting that Ward also holds Rwandan citizenship, adding to the diversity of his background and underscoring his versatility as a player.

   #8. Nate Heise, a standout 6'5'' guard and 24-year-old Cyclones alumnus from 2026, recently made his debut for Nuernberg Falcons BC in the German BARMER 2. Basketball Bundesliga ProA. In his first game of the season, he led his team to a thrilling 83-79 victory over the 15th-ranked Lions. Heise's stellar performance earned him the MVP title, as he showcased his skills as a champion player on the court. During the game, Heise displayed his talent by scoring 17 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, and playing a total of 30 minutes. His impact was felt not only in his scoring but also in his overall contribution to the team's success. In another impressive showing against Karlsruhe PS, Heise once again proved himself as a finalist player by scoring 17 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, and providing 2 assists to help secure another important win for his team. Heise's consistent and impactful performances highlight his abilities as a champion player, making him a key asset for Nuernberg Falcons BC as they strive for success in the league.

   #9. Canadian champion Nazareth Mitrou-Long, a 6'4'' guard who graduated from Iowa State in 2017, showcased his talent while playing professionally in Greece. In a recent game against the seventh-ranked Manresa in the BKT Eurocup, he made a significant impact by contributing 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in just 10 minutes of play. This marked his debut for PAOK this season, and his performance was crucial in their impressive 93-78 victory. Mitrou-Long's versatility on the court was evident as he displayed his scoring ability, rebounding skills, and playmaking capabilities against Manresa. His stellar performance not only helped secure the win but also exemplified his value to the team. His efforts ultimately propelled PAOK to triumph as the finalist in the competition.    #10. In the recent game, Dustin Hogue, a former Cyclones alumni from 2016 who now plays professionally in Italy, made his debut for Puglia. Despite his solid performance, where he scored 13 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and provided 1 assist in just 24 minutes, Puglia suffered a heavy defeat against the higher-ranked (#4) Fortitudo BO, with a final score of 92-70. Hogue's impressive contributions were not enough to help Puglia secure the win against the strong opponent.
