#1. Dejour Reaves, a 6'0'' point guard who graduated from Fordham in 2026 and received the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team award that year, is currently playing professionally in Germany. In a recent match, he led Basketball Loewen Braunschweig to a notable victory over the 16th-ranked Gladiators with a score of 116-107 in the German easyCredit BBL on Saturday night. Despite only playing for 17 minutes, Reaves managed to contribute 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. This remarkable performance came in his first game of the season for Basketball Loewen Braunschweig, a team currently ranked fourth in the league. As it is still early in the season, the team's position may fluctuate, but Reaves has already made a strong impression in his debut year with the squad. His exceptional display against Trier, where he scored 11 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists, was pivotal in securing the victory for his team as the champion.
#2. Ukrainian Rostyslav Novitskyi, a 6'9'' power forward at 25 years old and a Rams alumnus from 2023, showcased his talent during a recent game for his Romanian team Dinamo in the FIBA Europe Cup. In an impressive display of skill and dominance, Novitskyi led his team to a resounding victory over Peja with a final score of 96-58 on Wednesday night. In his debut game for Dinamo this season, Novitskyi made a significant impact by contributing 15 points and blocking 3 shots in just 22 minutes of play. This standout performance highlighted his abilities and solidified his position as a finalist in the game. The match between Dinamo and Peja was a highly anticipated showdown between two top 4 ranked teams, with Novitskyi's squad currently holding the second spot in the league standings. As Dinamo moves forward in the FIBA Europe Cup Qualifying Round, Novitskyi's role will be crucial in determining the team's success. Despite it being his first year with the team, his remarkable performance in the game against Peja proved that he is a true champion on the court. With only one more game left in the qualifying round, all eyes will be on Novitskyi as he continues to lead his team towards victory.
#3. Matthew Zona, a 24-year-old forward standing at 6'9'' and a graduate of Fordham in 2025, made a significant impact in the British Super League Basketball game on Sunday night. Playing for the Caledonia Gladiators, he played a key role in their 78-73 victory over the league-leading Liverpool team, who were defeated 0-1. Zona's performance included a remarkable double-double, as he scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, along with contributing 2 blocks during his 28 minutes on the court. This game marked his debut for the Caledonia Gladiators this season, and it proved to be a crucial match between two top 4 ranked teams, with his team currently holding the second position in the league standings. Zona's stellar performance against Liverpool helped his team secure the win and ultimately claim the champion title. This achievement is even more impressive considering that it is his first year with the team. Additionally, it's worth noting that Zona is a naturalized Irish player, adding to his diverse background and skillset.
