Courtesy of Eurobasket LLC We bring you last week's top former Eagles players who are currently playing in pro basketball.
Look at great performance of Jacob Wiley (18 points), Adris De Leon (7 points), and Jesse Hunt (2 points).
#1. Jacob Wiley, a 6'8'' center who graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2017 and received the All-Big Sky Conference Player of the Year award that same year, currently plays professionally in Puerto Rico. In a recent game, he led Santeros de Aguada to a 94-87 victory over the league leader, Atleticos (15-9), in the Puerto Rican Baloncesto Superior Nacional. As the MVP of the game, Wiley showcased his skills by scoring 18 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and dishing out 6 assists in 33 minutes of play. This exciting match-up between two top 3 ranked teams in Group A was a highlight of the round. Santeros de Aguada, currently in third place with an 11-11 record, demonstrated their strength under Wiley's leadership. In another game against San German, Wiley once again shined with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, contributing significantly to his team's victory and earning him the title of champion of the game. Throughout the season, Wiley has maintained solid statistics, averaging 12.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. As a naturalized American, his talent and skills on the court have been instrumental in his team's success, making him a valuable asset and a standout champion in the league.
#2. Experienced Dominican Republic point guard Adris De Leon, standing at 5'11'' and 41 years old, is a former Eagles alumni from 2009. Known for his skills on the court, he was crowned MVP of the EBC Rucker Park Summer League in New York that same year. Currently playing professionally in the Dominican Republic, De Leon recently showcased his talent in a game where his team, the Metros, faced off against the Marineros in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto. Despite De Leon's notable performance of scoring 7 points, securing 5 rebounds, providing 6 assists, and contributing 3 steals in 24 minutes of play, the league-leading Metros (12-4) fell short to the Marineros (8-8) with a score of 86-82 at their home court. This unexpected defeat by the lower-ranked Marineros (#6) adds pressure as the Metros have only one more crucial game left in the Regular Season. De Leon's season averages of 9.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.3 steals per game reflect his consistent contributions to the team. Despite his individual efforts against the Marineros, the Metros were unable to secure a victory, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of sports where even standout performances may not always guarantee success for the team.
#3. Australian Jesse Hunt, a 6'8'' forward at 28 years old, graduated from EWU in 2019 and received the All-Big Sky Conference Second Team award that year. Currently, he is playing professionally in Cyprus and recently played a crucial role in guiding Petrolina AEK Larnaca to a hard-fought 68-64 victory over the closely-ranked Keravnos (21-2) in the Cypriot ECOMMBX Basket League on Monday night. Despite scoring only 2 points and contributing 3 assists in 18 minutes, Hunt's performance was instrumental in securing the win for his team. This game was a highly anticipated matchup between two top 4 ranked teams, with Petrolina AEK Larnaca (22-1) currently leading the league standings. This victory marked his team's fifth consecutive win, showcasing their dominance in the league. Having played five seasons with the team, Hunt's consistent contributions have been noteworthy. Against Keravnos, he not only scored 2 points but also grabbed 2 rebounds and provided 3 assists, displaying his versatility on the court. His efforts undoubtedly played a key role in helping his team emerge as the champion of the game. Throughout the season, Hunt has maintained solid statistics, averaging 10.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. His performance highlights his value as a key player for Petrolina AEK Larnaca and his ability to make significant contributions to the team's success.
#4. Australian basketball player Mason Peatling, a 6'8'' forward aged 29 and an Eagles alumni from 2020, has been excelling in the professional league in Australia. Recently, he led the Illawarra Hawks 2nd team to a victory against the 16th-ranked Bandits with a score of 111-102 in the Australian NBL One, the second division, on Saturday night. Peatling showcased his skills by scoring 15 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, providing 3 assists, and adding 2 blocks during the game, all in just 29 minutes of play. The Illawarra Hawks 2nd team, with a record of 10-1, currently holds the third position in the East group. This win marked their eighth consecutive victory, showcasing their dominance in the league. In a standout performance against Albury W.B., Peatling's contributions of 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists were pivotal in securing the victory for his team, ultimately leading them to be crowned as the champion of that game. Individually, Peatling is having an impressive season with notable statistics, averaging 17.0 points per game, 8.7 rebounds per game, 1.2 assists per game, and 1.1 blocks per game. His consistent performance and valuable contributions have been instrumental in his team's success, making him a key player to watch in the league.
