#1. Jomaru Brown, a 6'2'' guard who graduated from Coastal in 2023 and currently plays professionally in Bulgaria, made his debut for Lokomotiv Plovdiv in their recent game against VEF Riga. Despite his commendable performance, where he scored 18 points and provided 4 assists in just 26 minutes of play, Lokomotiv Plovdiv suffered a crushing 106-83 defeat on the road. Brown's contribution as the second-best scorer couldn't prevent his team from falling to the leading VEF Riga. This marked Brown's first game of the season with Lokomotiv Plovdiv, as he adjusts to his new team and league dynamics. The outcome of this match serves as a reminder that it's still early in the season, leaving room for improvement and unexpected turnarounds.
#2. Spanish champion Ian Granja, a 6'7'' forward who is 23 years old and an alumnus of Chanticleers from 2024, showcased his talent by leading Calpe to a dominant victory against the ninth-ranked Carolinas (0-1) with a resounding 106-67 win in the Spanish Tercera FEB (fourth division) on Sunday night. In his first game for Calpe this season, Granja made a remarkable impact by scoring 14 points, grabbing 4 rebounds, dishing out 3 assists, and making 4 steals in just 22 minutes of play. This stellar performance is even more impressive considering it is only Granja's third season in professional basketball. Currently, his team holds the third position in Group E-B. Despite the Regular Season having already concluded, Granja, in his first year with the team, displayed his prowess on the court as a champion, guiding Calpe to a convincing victory over Carolinas.
#3. In a recent game in the Czech Republic 1 Basketbolova Liga, Miroslav Stafl, a 26-year-old center standing at 6'11'' and a Coastal graduate of 2024, who currently plays professionally in his home country, faced a tough challenge. Despite his efforts, he could not lead his team, Liberec, to victory against J.Hradec in the second division of the league. During the game, which saw Liberec suffer a significant 86-48 defeat at home against the higher-ranked J.Hradec, Stafl put up a valiant effort. In his 15 minutes of playtime, he managed to score one point, pull down 7 rebounds, and dish out 2 assists. Although his individual performance was noteworthy, it was not enough to secure a win for his team. As the ninth-placed team in the West group with a 1-2 record, Liberec will need to regroup and work on their performance moving forward. Despite the outcome of this particular game, Stafl has been maintaining solid averages this season, with 4.7 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game, and 1.7 assists per game. While this game may not be counted among his best, Stafl's dedication and contributions on the court remain commendable.
