#1. Ky Bowman, a 6'1'' guard who graduated from Boston College in 2019 and received the USBWA All-District I Team award that year, is currently playing professionally in Italy for Umana Reyer Venezia. In a recent game last Friday, despite his commendable efforts, Bowman could not prevent Venezia from suffering a defeat on the road against Tortona, who are ranked lower at #5. Bowman showcased his skills by scoring 10 points, securing 3 rebounds, and providing 3 assists during the game, which lasted 30 minutes. This marks Bowman's first season with the team, where he has been maintaining an average of 9.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. Although he displayed an impressive performance individually, his team, Venezia, ultimately fell short in the match against Tortona, succumbing to an 82-71 loss.
#2. Makai Ashton-Langford, a 6'3'' guard and 27-year-old Eagles alum from 2023, currently playing professionally in Lithuania, unfortunately could not lead Jonava (9-23) to victory in their recent game last Friday. Despite his exceptional performance, Jonava was defeated 90-75 at home by the formidable Zalgiris, the current leading team in the league. Ashton-Langford showcased his skills by emerging as the top scorer of the game with an impressive 28 points. Additionally, he contributed significantly with 9 assists and 5 steals throughout the intense 34-minute match. Even though Ashton-Langford displayed a remarkable performance against Zalgiris, scoring 28 points while also securing 1 rebound and distributing 9 assists, his team ultimately fell short and suffered a loss. Throughout the season, Ashton-Langford has maintained solid statistics, averaging 14.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Notably, he is a naturalized American player known for his talent and contributions on the court.
#3. Jerome Robinson, a 29-year-old guard/forward standing at 6'6'' who graduated from Boston College in 2018 and received the USBWA All-District I Team award that same year, is currently playing professionally in Turkey. In a recent game, Robinson, playing for Galatasaray Ekmas Istanbul, faced off against the powerhouse team Besiktas. Despite his solid performance of scoring 8 points, grabbing 1 rebound, and providing 1 assist in 25 minutes of play, his team was unable to secure a victory. Galatasaray Ekmas Istanbul suffered a significant defeat with a final score of 108-83 in the highly anticipated match against Besiktas, who holds the second position in the Turkish ING Basketbol Super Ligi. This season marks Robinson's first with the team, where he has been averaging 8.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Although the outcome of the game was not in his favor, Robinson's efforts on the court showcase his determination and skill as a champion player.
#4. CJ Penha, a 26-year-old forward standing at 6'8'' and an Eagles alumnus from 2023, currently playing professionally in Brazil, made a significant impact in Esporte Clube Pinheiros Sao Paolo's narrow 82-81 victory over the sixth-ranked Corinthians in a thrilling derby match in the Brazilian Novo Basquete Brasil on Saturday night. In just 18 minutes of play, Penha managed to contribute 9 points and secure 6 rebounds. This remarkable performance by Penha was crucial in securing the victory for his team, positioning them as a top contender in the league standings, currently holding the second position with a record of 30-8. It is noteworthy that this is Penha's debut season with the team, and his immediate influence on the court has been impressive. His consistent performance throughout the season, averaging 7.5 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game, highlights his importance to the team's success. Penha's exceptional display against Corinthians undoubtedly played a vital role in propelling his team towards becoming the champion of that match.
#5. Experienced German player Patrick Heckmann, a 6'6'' small forward at 34 years old who graduated from Boston College in 2015 and currently plays professionally in Germany, recently showcased his skills for Telekom Baskets Bonn. In a challenging match against s Oliver Baskets in the German easyCredit BBL, Heckmann, the team's key player, fought hard but couldn't lead his team to victory. Despite his efforts, Telekom Baskets Bonn (21-13) fell short against s Oliver Baskets (20-14) with a final score of 82-70 in Wuerzburg. Though Heckmann delivered a solid performance by contributing 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist in 21 minutes of play, it wasn't enough to secure the win for his team. His consistent efforts throughout the season have seen him average 6.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Heckmann's determination and skill on the court make him a valuable asset to his team, even in the face of challenging matchups like the one against s Oliver Baskets.
#6. Serbian Nikola Popovic, a 28-year-old 6'11'' center/forward and Eagles alumnus from 2020, showcased his talent as a champion when he led Igokea to a resounding 107-87 victory over the league leader Siroki in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I. Popovic, who currently plays professionally in Bosnia, contributed significantly to his team's win by scoring 13 points and grabbing 1 rebound in just 24 minutes of play. His impressive performance on the court highlighted his skills as a finalist. Throughout the season, Popovic maintains solid averages of 9.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. Notably, he holds dual American and Serbian citizenship, allowing him to play in Serbia as a domestic player.
