Romel Beck
Pioneros de Quintana Roo-Cancun (LNBP) landed 32-year old former Mexican international swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances). It is actually his comeback to Pioneros as he played here before. Beck has a double citizenship as he also holds American passport. Beck started the season at Ikaros in Greek A1 league. In 7 games he averaged 8.6ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.0apg this season. The last summer he played at Leones (BSN) in Puerto Rican league. In 16 games he had 8.1ppg and 1.7rpg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final.
In 2005 Beck was drafted by Yakama Sun Kings (CBA) in sixth round (44th overall).
The former University of Nevada - Las Vegas staris in his ninth season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements Beck received All-Greek A1 League 3rd Team award in 2012. He also represented Mexico at the FIBA Americas in San Juan (Puerto Rico) five years ago. Beck's team won Gold and his stats at that event were 3 games: 9.7ppg, 3.3rpg, FGP: 23.5%, 3PT: 33.3%, FT: 90.0%.
Beck is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Croatia (KK Zadar), Israel (Bnei Hasharon), Italy (Trenkwalder RE and Upea Capo d'Orlando), Venezuela (Guaros), NBA (Houston Rockets), D-League (Santa Cruz Warriors) and Mexico (Tecos de la UAGuadalajara).
Let's have closer look into Beck's outlook: A promising player with great offensive skills, who runs the court well and can easily hit a 3 pointer. He is the typical streak shooter, who can win a game by himself the night he' s hot. But not all the nights he's so good. And, despite his height, he's more a SG than a SF, and tends to be too discontinous, even during the same game. Has great upside, but he is maybe yet too green for the top European leagues. Also, he needs to improve his defensive skills.
