Lady Operators earn NPWBA title- March 25, 2013The Bommer Gee Lady Operators clinched the New Providence Womens Basketball Association championship title. They prevailed against the Career Builders Lady Cheetahs 68:63 in the decisive fifth game of the series. The Lady Cheetahs entered the game as two-time defending champions but the Lady Operators relied on Diasti Delancey in the overtime and she helped them claim the crucial win. Delancey gave the Lady Operators a decisive 64:60 lead and later on Suzette McKenzie added a jumper to make it 66:63. Diasti Delancey followed with a key steal and the bucket that sealed the win for the Lady Operators. Malesha Peterson provided 18 points to lead the winners. Sharelle Cash and Diasti Delancey finished with 11 points each for the Lady Operators. Phylicia Kelly answered with 14 points for the Lady Cheetahs. Annie Moultrie and Alyse Dean chipped in 11 points each in the loss. |
